Wow, it's pretty lame. Looks like the dime a dozen low budget movies you see on Sci-Fi.

Wow, they remade it? How much cheesier could it get. Decent flick for it's time, but I don't think it was worthy of a remake. But, considering Hollywood remakes everything a few times over , what the hay.

Bah I guess I don't get A&E here so I settled for the last half of Crank that was on (I think) Showtime. :D

Wow, it's sucks pretty hardcore.

The CGI effects were lame, unrealistic, and quite honestly pointless when they could have chosen stock footage which would have looked more realistic (such as the F-16 taxiing, taking off, and flying).
The suspense just doesn't work because they don't give it enough time to build up.
The situations are not believable, even if you do make the assumptions that there's an Andromeda strain.

I'm not sure about the addition of this Nash character and Stone leaking info to him. The lab is pretty cool, though.

I shall watch part 2 because I love the book and have nothing better to do tomorrow at 9. I'm looking forward to seeing how they did the climax with Kean crawling through the central spine of the lab.

Also, what the hell is this wormhole crap? There was no need to provide an explanation for the source of Andromeda. That's like someone remaking Pulp Fiction and showing what is inside the briefcase.

I enjoyed it and will be tuning in tomorrow. I didn't even realize it was based on a book until reading this thread. Might be worth picking up from the library.

I am not fond of the major changes made to the story.

particularly the worm hole/alien thing.

not sure about part 2, but I am already disappointed with this project.

Cablevision took away A&E from our lineup because they are trying to force everyone to upgrade to digital cable. I wanted to see this too :(

My mom is pissed about this. She's actually going to call up Verizon to see about switching to FiOS to spite Cablevision.

I'm only into this movie 10 minutes and it already sucks. Are you guys sure the Sci Fi Channel didn't make this? I can see this is a remake in name and broad concept only. I don't think I am going to get far into this one, just like I rarely complete a movie on the Sci Fi Channel. Sad too because the original film was good.

Just watched the rerun...its terribad. The book was about the race against the clock. This movie doesn't seem to convey any sense of urgency and instead some anal white guy keeps verbally assaulting the asian guy for needless drama. Acting is sub-par as well. Too many plot twists...stick to the book for once!

Directing, top notch.
I think the problem with this remake is they are trying to do too much with the story.
This one has way too much going on.
Its like they touch on one plot segment then rapidly move to the next.
Its still fun to watch, and I do like the technology they have put into it.
The digital paper was a nice touch.
