You are right, the FDA isn't looking out for us.

But I'm not worried about condoms. It's up to each of us to decide about our sexual habits.

No, I'm MUCH more concerned about genetically modified foods and untried drugs that get rushed to market for a profit... that kind of thing, the thing that makes big companies richer but makes people who aren't even sexually active into unwitting guinea pigs. All in the name of capitalism. That's scary.

Rip isn't worried about that. He loves PROFIT, CAPITALISM, MONEY.

Well, it's amazing. Of all things to fault the FDA for... I can't see this as being one of them, since we can choose whether or not to wrap the rascal. Not too many people realize they are feeding their children products made from genetically engineered corn which is 'safe' as far as the FDA is concerned. It takes a LONGITUDINAL study to establish the impact of such things.

Most recent studies indicate condoms do not safeguard against human papillomavirus, or HPV, a little-known but widespread sexually transmitted disease that, untreated, can cause genital warts or cervical cancer.

Yet, package labels now say that condoms, if properly used, reduce the risk of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. The labels are silent on the issue of HPV.

Link

Legislation was signed into law by President Clinton in December 2000 that required condoms to carry labeling similar to that of the Surgeon General's warning on cigarette packages.

Why isn't the FDA following the law?

I did try blue cheese for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Interesting taste; I'll have to try it again to see if I really like it or not. My dad loved the stuff.
Blue cheese (and also feta) is good stuff on top of a salad. Not sure if you've tried that or not.

So, I really like cheese. I had some aged Gruyere the other day that was just marvelous.

What about you guys?
New York Sharp Cheddar. The dryer, the better.
Swiss for me. 🙂

smoked gouda
I prefer a good, smokey cheddar, preferably sharp.

Anyone else like pickled herring? I'm the only one in my immediate family who will touch it. Just more for me.
My dad lived on the stuff. I tried it once and it was like licking a salt block.

You guys ever have Kaseri cheese? Its greek cheese and very delicious.

I prefer Kefalograviera. I use that as a substitute for parmesean, because parmesean is crap cheese. Yeah I said it! Woo Greek pride! 🙂

Yep, that's how I had it. I think I'll have to eat it a couple more times to really enjoy it.

"The stuff" = pickled herring, I assume? Maybe that's why I like it. I've never been big on sweets -- except dark chocolate -- but I love salty foods, e.g., nuts and chips. I've never really noticed herring being salty; it's the pickled taste that dominates for me. Perhaps I'm fooling myself.

My Dad, who was a gourmand, used to buy a jar every now and then and keep it in the fridge. I don't remember it being OVERLY salty. I just remember it coming in a fairly large glass jar with the herring immersed in some dairy looking white stuff, like a thinnish sour cream.

Oh man, that sounds really gross. It must be an acquired taste for sure. :disgust:
Nah, good stuff. It'll put hair on your chest, as my dad used to say.

Beef liver is the one thing I just cannot stand. But my wife loves it. If I so much as smell it, I have to leave the house. Fortunately, she only tried fixing it a couple of times before she gave up on me.
