The AM3+ FX processor deal thread

This thread will be dedicated to hot deals on AM3+ FX processors.

The first deal is a FX-8300 boxed processor for $119.99 shipped with Hitman (2016) game code:

Microcenter in-store deal $89.99 FX 8320E boxed & "save $40 when bundled with a compatible motherboard". Might be part of their Pi days sale, 3 days of irrational deals, or the new normal price.

Just built up the recent cheap Fry's MSI 970A, with an FX4130 that was given to me, or I'd all over one of these 8 core deals (still thinking about it...).

I picked the 8300 up from Newegg back in January when it was going for $105 after a promo code. Paired it with an MSI 970 Gaming board, and it's been tough getting a stable OC with that combo. I kept at it until I got 4.2 on all cores, turbo disabled @ 1.39v.

Seemed to be running fine, but about 1 out of 5 bootups I get a message that my OC profile failed to load properly. I go into the BIOS and load the profile, and it's fine again. It has the latest BIOS, but I'm about done fiddling with it, after spending hours trying to get to 4.5 stable to match the 6300 chip that the 8300 replaced.

A free game is nice incentive if you are in need of an FX chip. I'm holding onto my SB 2500k for now, and upgraded both the workbench rig and HTPC with FX chips. Both were cheaper to upgrade (at $187 total for 2 chips and 1 board) than just the Intel CPU for my SB2500K to <insert Intel i5 chip of choice here> upgrade will be.

I got my 8320E to 4.620, and my 8350 to 4.8, both on air, Im tempted just to buy this to mess around with just to see how high I can get it to go :O

I love FX cpu's 🙂

FX8300 (as shell shocker) is now $99.99 free shipping at Newegg.

Still comes with Hitman 2016 game code.

Price on FX8300 (at Newegg) is $109.99 free shipping (and still includes Hitman 2016 game code).

P.S. If anyone buys this processor from Newegg can you please report back if it comes with the new red fan cooler?

(Presence of such a cooler would indirectly indicate a late manufacture processor since this revision was announced Feb 2016)

BTW The 8320e deal at micro center includes a free copy of total war: warhammer. I got an email with the code minutes after I walked out of micro center.
