The AM2 Availability Thread

Newegg has a Sempron 3400+ in stock...its PR rating is ridiculous, too. It's equivalent to the 3100+ 939 Sempron, and costs $120...I can get a 3100+ at Outpost for $60.

Seems that availability is happening fairly fast, which is good. Hopefully we'll see some X2s in quantity soon.

Hehe, I just need them to be instock friday morning.

You have to remember that it now has a Dual-Channel memory controller.

Looks like Socket AM2 is going to be an awesome budget platform... Besides all I can afford is a Sempron/Celeron Anyway... Thank you AMD for bringing a powerful budget platform that is very feature rich and stable...

Yeah they haven't excatly flooded the market with these yet...I wonder why AMD was so hush-hush about the CPU's before launch? They ended up being nothing different than what the previews were and no suprises...Oh well.

I'm looking forward to the lowest end Sempron, supposedly around $70 for a 2800+ AM2 Sempron. Couple that with a cheap $70 overclockable board to make for a great budget build.

But is the less than 2% performance improvement offered via having a dual channel memory controller worth a 100% price difference?

Not until June for the Energy Efficient CPU's. Looks like june for the AM2 Opteron 1xx aswell.

I have to agree with dguy. The 3400 is WAY too much money.
