So it's a Commodore/soon to be G8 with a Chevy badge?

They sell the Holden Commodore in the middle east as the Chevy Lumina. It is comign to the US as the Pontiac G8 and will initially have a 362HP V8 with cylinder deactivation...we should see it within the year.

That is funny, GM offers the longest warranty of all the car manufacturers on the market...

<tommy boy> I can put a POS in a box and slap a warranty sticker on it, but all that is just a warranty POS</tommy boy>

But yeah, that car looks great.

Well, Holden is Gm so they are just sending to across to Pontiac.

As for the warranty, it says alot when a company will stand by their products.

Someone needs to tell them that that particular business model ain't workin' out for them.

Which is why they are No 1 in China, and have strong sales in Europe. It's there NA operations that are having issues, not overseas.

The front of the SS looks very similar to the COT Impala that Chevy's running this year in NASCAR

so why don't they sell those good cars here? it's not that vic wants them to sell crappy cars there, it's that he (and about everyone else who pays attention to ford and gm's overseas cars) wants them to sell the good ones here too.

Why bring back the Lumina name?
All I can think of are noisy 3.1 liter V6 engines running around, and dieing on the sides of the road.

Isn't that what GM is doing? Yet, as long is it doesn't carry an import badge it will never be good enough.

Longer than Hyundai's 10 year/100,000 mile warranty? Oh, no, GM's is only 5 year/100,000 miles. See, GM knows that most people will only hit 60,000 miles or fewer in 5 years. This way they get to look like they have a long warranty, but only very rarely have to back it up.

Besides, it's pretty much proven that companies with higher-quality products do not see any benefit from longer warranties because people don't perceive the need for a warranty with those products. Companies that have longer warranties have them because consumers perceive a lack of quality in the product and need the enticement of free repairs to be convinced that buying the product is a good idea.

one car that got a fugly makeover is not enough. we want the entire line, without fugliness. they're only now starting to do what has been readily apparent to anyone who looked at it over the last 5 or 6 years. just like how nissan took forever to put a 4 banger in the maxima, when everyone knew that would be a huge win for them.

here's to hoping that it doesn't turn out like the american version of top gear did.
