Wow not surprising, but a pretty crazy trend. This is going to hurt lot of sites that rely on search traffic.

Sticking AI right into search seems like a bad idea for search engines to do. Imagine all the extra compute resources that is taking and most people who are doing a search are probably not interested in the AI answer and just skip over it. What they should do is make it an option when you search. Ex: do a regular search or do an AI query.

And yeah blocking ad blockers was a shitty move too, glad I don't use Chrome so not affected. Although I do worry about the fact it has such a big market share, it's basically turning into Internet Explorer. I remember a point where some sites ONLY worked in IE because of ActiveX etc. If Google decided to they could come up with their own version of that and force people on Chrome.
