"The Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"

I've had taxcut 2008 installed on the computer everything is fine nothing has changed software & hardware wise. I have googled the problem and their solutions seem to be work arounds and none I've seen are real fixes as I can login to the admin account do what I need to do then disable the admin account again. I've looked in the local policies and nothing has changed there all are "not configured". Everytime I have to update the program when they release updates I have to login to the admin account. Does anyone know a permanent solution to this. It is Vista 32bit.

Are you saying you have no non-disabled admin account on that box? Thats not actually a good idea...

Have you tried from the non-admim account you want to use and right clicking on shortcut and choosing run as. This will open up a dialog box and you can use the The following user option and type in the admins credentials and program should start. If theres no run as choice you need to make a shortcut from the programs executable file and it should be there.

Edit
My info was for an XP system the same info applies for Vista but when you right click on shortcut it will have a Run as Administrator option.

Not if he keeps his admin account disabled, which is what I think he stated....

Ya I've always kept the admin account disabled. It has never caused an issue like this though. I know it is a security reason but after I install everything nothing else is installed. I have done the run as admin option in vista but with the same error message. Only way to bypass it is the admin account. Nothing was changed so Idk why it just started happening. I appreciate all your help both of you.

I don't think you need to go disabling any of your own user accounts. The "real" Administrator account, the one actually named Administrator, is already disabled on Vista. Try leaving your own Admin-level account enabled; does the software work properly now?

No I did leave the admin account disabled but even when I right click and run the .exe as admin it still gives me that message I don't know why. I know I can do it in the real Admin account but I haven't tried running the program in the user account while the Admin account is enabled idk if that would even make a difference. this is the only program that gives me this issue. I can update every other program on the comp. I have already uninstalled and installed the program to see if that helped to no avail.

Thanks for the link although there is no solution provided in there. But the main issue is that it was working just fine up until the last update and before the update was applied it just stopped working correctly.

Ya it was just an update to the tax forms not a program update. But the thing is the update wouldnt install so it wouldnt be because of that because in order for me to install it I had to go to the admin account. so it was prior to the install of that update.
