Hi,

I have a Acer laptop that has a 1.8 Ghz - M P4 CPU. I know that this kind of CPU speeds up and slows down to save battery life.

wen I open the system properties window I always see the actual speed to be 1.20 Ghz or as I am writing these lines it shows 788 Ghz.

I never see the CPU run at max speed 1.8 Ghz, even when the machine hucked to a power line and photoshop is doing something in the background.

is this how it's sopposed to be ?

thanks,

Mic

yup, that's how Intel's SpeedStep technology works
the cpu will scale to higher and lower speeds depending on cpu load to conserve battery power
