Plantanthera I'll do that. I'm a little out of it today, but do realize there are still some things happening today. When I tell some people the little I do know about Afghanistan, for instance (how women are treated, the destruction of religious symbols, etc.), they are simply amazed.

To this day slavery still exists, and there are wars being fought. We just don't hear much about it. Certainly not as much as we should. If it doesn't effect us directly. We sure do seem to care a lot less. 😉
 
To bring this back on topic: I am happy we dropped it. Saved lots of lives, most probably my Uncles. He was amoungst the first soldiers into Japan after the surrender. In his opinion, us losing 1 million troops in the invasion of Japan was a very conservative estimate, given how well defended Tokyo bay was.

I like my Uncle, he is a great guy. I am happy he is here and not worm food! I am sorry for the innocent civilians that got killed, at least the civilians that did not support the destruction of the United States.
