The -5v rail

How important is it to have a -5v rail on a PSU? I'm looking at the fortron blue storm to power an SLI rig but it doesn't have a -5v rail on it. It looks like I'll end up having to get the 600w enermax but I was just wondering how important the -5v is.

the new ATX 12V 2.0 (24pin) standard doesnt use the -5 anymore...the pin/wire is just left out. So it can not be that important 🙂

Almost nothing uses -5 or -12V any more - soon they will both be extinct. Too bad, they are nice to use for playing with fan voltages -5 to +5 gives 10V, -5 to +3.3 give 8.3V, -12 to +12 give 24V, etc... Lots of fan voltages to play with w/o needing a rheostat.

I've had my Delta PSU for about a year now and it lacks at least one of the negative voltages - I haven't missed it.
