Thanks anyway Atlantean, but that's just a normal 5800, they're pretty much a dime a dozen here. A lot of vendors have them for $180 - $300 USD on Pricewatch, and they're not really even worth that. ($150 IMO) They're not "rare" they don't have any special cooling or fast RAM, although they should all OC to Ultra levels.

I was only looking for Ultras or the Abit version that has Ultra type RAM and better than Ultra cooling.

Supposedly the guy I bought it from has his original receipt and is going to RMA for me the week after next.

Since we here in the UK are a bit behind the US, its possible we have what you are looking for over here still on sale in shops. If you give me some specs and pics, I can take a look around my list of UK shops if you really want one :)

For someone who's had a 9800 Pro I could see how it would make more sense for them to want to get a 5800U over a 5900 anything. Not only is the 9800 Pro as good as or better than a 5900 anything, a 5800 has some play-toy quality to it the 5900 doesn't really have seeing as the 5800 was so quickly discontinued.

You got it Bunny. Just a nostalgia, "V5 6K" sort of thing. An infamous video card that never really made it to market.
Some retail outlets got a few, but they disappeared quick.

If you pair that V5 6K with a 3DFX board (never released but under the codename inhouse of Rampage), you would have one rare bird indeed !!
I tried a Google search on it a while back and never got any worthwhile hits

Thank you. Let me see what happens with my Ebay seller after he returns from spring break next week. If he's true to his word and gives me my money back pending successful RMA, I will have what I want, perhaps the only 5800 better than a 5800 Ultra. (sorry Vian- to get the dustbuster, but quiet, and the RAM outweighs the slim possibility I can't OC the core in my book- I don't have DaPunisher's Sennheisers)

There's a very good reason why I never buy second hand hardware, especially electronics equipment.

Sure. Just checked over at one of the places I frequently visit and found an ABIT OTES 5800... unsure whether its Ultra or what you are looking for but it seems promising.

Out of curiosity, what does it cost in US dollars?

BTW there are no ABIT Ultras, but they do have Ultra RAM on them and copper heatsinks, soooooooo.......

From here.. Im not sure what the conversion rate for £ -> $ is but its not favourable for you Im afraid to say. When I got my order from Sidewinder... it was £1 = $1.70 and apparently its rising.

From The UCC, £1 = $1.84865... which means that little collectable will cost you around $346 before shipping. Thats enough for a 9800Pro and some spending money over there isnt it?

Well, I already have a 9800 Pro, but here they cost around $200 these days.

That is pretty high for the collectable.

I bought 4 different pieces of hardware on eBay and all worked fine... maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe I'm a smarter shopper :D

I paid £160 for my 9800P Retail-Lite (Sapphire :)) which is around $300. To me, its not too bad.

Blame the world economy.... and out nice 17.5% VAT. The £ to $ conversion was much less harsh for people exporting to the US 1 1/2 years ago. Around £1 = $1.42 iirc. Still... if you cant find one over there, you could try ordering one from the UK although Im not sure many will ship to the US.
