I met some people from Louisiana who were genuinely happy all the time... but they were also incredibly happy to not be living in Louisiana anymore. I don't think it's a cause/effect situation where moving to Louisiana will make someone happier, but the culture does seem to produce some people who love life (regardless of where they settle).

That is a very bizarre list. So is Interstate 90 the corridor of misery or something?

Shreveport surprises me a little, but I used to live just north of there and it was a very happy place. Poor, but happy.

Well with all the inbreeding going on down there, makes them mentally challenged and just always have a smile on their face no matter what. Kind of like the retarded kid that Charlie Sheen kills in Platoon.

My city isn't and probably never will be on the list again.

After the industries went bankrupt and everyone moved out of the state it makes me wonder why I am still here.

I'm just staying for my education and then I will be gone :p.
