In the pilot episode, what is originally thought to be a comet deposits a group of exactly 4400 people at Highland Beach, in the Cascade Range foothills near Mount Rainier, Washington. All of the 4400 disappeared at various times starting in 1946 in a beam of white light. After their return, none have aged, all are disoriented, and remember nothing between the time of their disappearance and their return.
Yes, that sounds exactly like Heroes?

By having to quote that I suspect you've never even seen the 4400. That's merely the backstory. Just because Heroes tells a different tale of how they came to be - what do you say of the idea of having numerous superheroes amongst us only now discovering their powers... ? If that sounds original to you, then you really have not seen the 4400 which came out a full 2 years before Heroes... just on a lesser watched network.

Damn, both great shows. Is Life next?

Life... that was the show on the tip of my tongue... I read that it is in a good position even with the writer's strike since they have more episodes taped and ready to go once the holiday season passes. This way, they will be picking up more viewers when all the other shows are on hiatus due to no new material.

Bring on more Sarah Shahi please. About time she got a lead role.

It also sounds a bit like Marvel's "New Universe" line from the 1980s... there was a global flash of white light, and then people suddenly started manifesting powers.

You're a writer... give us new ideas of how else people suddenly manifest powers and see if it's been done before.

Point is, it's quite obvious where Heroes came from.

See I always thought 4400 was a rip off of Rising Stars

^ I honestly don't see a problem with making comics into tv shows or movies. Who wouldn't want to see that transition?

It's when you make tv shows out of existing tv shows or songs out of existing songs that you've got some issues (thieving capitalists?!)... or worse... you think you can get away without people noticing.

How dare NBC rip off a show on USA. They should be sued.

I can't help but wonder if all this might be some kind of posturing on the part of the networks to put some pressure on the writers in regards to the strike. Public outcry and all that.

I mean the networks don't have much choice other than to "cancel" shows because they have no one to do the writing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some of these return if this strike ever gets settled.

I don't care about it really other than the fact that everyone needs to know Heroes isn't some epic piece of creative work that deserves all its praise. Again, I watched both. Fanboys need to relax.

It's the show that Heroes ripped off.

jealous

I've actually watched Heroes until this season... I just lost interest in it because it really got worse. You can't deny the similarities in the shows and the timing in which Heroes came to fruition. They only have a bigger following because of NBC's production quality and marketing.

its also got Hayden :lips:

Like most shows the first season of both was great. Lost interrest in The 4400 and haven't watched since. Lost interrest in Heroes initially, but it picked up toward the end of the season (when they realized they had too many characters and storys going on).

My sarcasm meter may need a recharge, but NBC and USA are part of the same company.

I really liked to 4400. It kinda sucks that they aren't going to do something with the show to wrap up the story lines.

It is getting to the point where I think the best thing to do is not watch any televisions shows until the series has ended and comes out on DVD. This way, you can avoid the series that get canceled and aren't allowed to properly finished the story.

GODDAMNIT :|:frown:

I am so sick of shows never ending properly, or at all, due to being cancelled, or just having sucky producers/directors :frown:

Pisses me off...you invest so much in watching a show, anticipating how it's all going to play out...but it never does :|

This sucks because I started to like 4400 again last season after Jordan Collier returned.

WTF were they thinking. What's next? Eureka?

When are "The Wire" and "The Shield" coming back?

I'm just glad that I still have Damages, Burn Notice, Mad Men, The Unit, The Wire, The Shield and Rescue Me.

imo, all these shows rip off xmen. when i said that earlier, some tool started arguing that xmen was about kids in a school and heroes wasnt or something equally stupid. but the whole, superpower having good guys trying to 'find' themselves and fight off the superpower having baddies is played out.
