Thanks for the stats Peter! My addiction is eased with your diligigence. ;)

AS1 is right: Stanford is getting generous lately... I'm even seeing some of the 2653 SMPs! I can't seem to get all 5 clients free of the :evil: 511 point GPU WUs, but it's nice to see the bump we are getting.

BIG congrats to you Mark for 13 million. :thumbsup:

As of right now, I am almost exactly 1/2 of that. /me glares at slow PCs :p

-Sid

PS: I just got off the phone with my son!!!!!!!!!!!! Our first conversation since he started USN boot camp. We both cried, but it was one of the best days of my life. (And I've had some GOOD ones)

Congrats on your talk with your son ! I assume USN is the U.S. Navy ?

And as for slow PC's, I am sure that not it. I am up to 6 quads, and a 3 duo's, and 10 8800 GT or faster video cards, and 4 years crunching.

Yeah, he's in the US Navy. (like his Dad was : proud smiley; )

You're right Mark, they are speedsters, but I still envy the sheer horsepower at your house!

Actually, I have (I think) sold my Opty PC to a co-worker whose kids just realized they can't play the 'cool' games on the PIII he bought on EGay.... :laugh:

So it's good for the budget and all that, but gonna cost us (The mighty TAS folding TeAm) about 5K PPD.

Sorry folks..... greed has once again reared it's ugly head.

Yes, last year, the whole team was doing 50k PPD. Now there are two of us doing over that by ourselves ! I was at 12k ppd, now almost 60k PPD ? And I was on the folders, and Gravity was on TAS ! And this year MadMurph is nowhere to be seen. He sure was a joker, and fun. He janked my chain every chance he got.

I noticed that. :)

But the PPD production has change dramatically through out the entire spectrum. Cpu's, and the intro of Gpu power is just incredible.

Nice job BTW Mark, Now your new nemesis is Gravity, Sid and others. It is like once something goes amuck, others that are high point producers are at your heals...Well sort of....Still have a ways to go but, sort of, maybe, kind of, I think so...:confused::)

SO, do I just install one client and set machine ID to "2" as below ??

( machine ID: 1 (change to 2 if running 2 smp clients) )

Officially all you need is 1 SMP client for duallies or quads, however for quads at least their is apparently some inefficiencies in windows which results in a little CPU power going unused, so for quads run 2xSMP & affinity changer gives slightly better performance, no idea how much though :eek:.
I'm not sure if this applies to duallies too, anyone?

Sid (& anyone ;))
How much more performance does running 2xSMP + affin changer make over 1xSMP on quads?

The affinity changer can't help a single SMP client running on a quad. Each of the 4 threads already has a CPU to itself.

If you are running 2 SMP clients and the affinity changer on a quad with WindowsXP, you can see as much as 20% increase over one SMP alone.

BUT If you are running GPU and SMP on a quad, you will get your best PPD with a single SMP IF you create and set the appropriate windows environment variable (NV_FAH_CPU_AFFINITY with the value set to 0) so all the GPU to scavenge from any core.

Hope that helps!

(too bad about MM, I guess we wore him out :evil: )

Geeze, and I was still one of the "big guns". Sadly, my ppd hasn't quite kept up with the rest of the folks here, not to mention some of the new guys. Oh well, at least the fun of the race hasn't diminished any!

Sorry my output was down. We had an ice storm here in the northeast that took out the power. I was only down for about a day, but my friends in the next town over are going to be without power for the next few days. Not to mention, it's supposed to drop below 20F tonight. Me, I heat my apt with my F@H rig! :)

Ah, Don't be sorry, Been watching the headlines about it over there. Seemed to be very messy. But glad to hear that you're doing fine! And yes they do put out some heat. Feels good with those temps. This past week we had very cold weather, -5ish or so.
Ice storms suck! :thumbsdown:

That's what I was after, thanks :thumbsup:.
Quite a big difference too!

Welcome back online, VirtualLarry! Good to see you managed well.

<Some what OT:>
I heat my house with 22 computers: In the computer room, where I have 16 of the rigs, I have installed a large fan which pulls the hot air into a air-to-air heat exchanger in the attic: the outgoing air heats the ingoing air which in turn is distributed through ducts to most of the rooms in my house. It has an efficiency of 80+% in temps lower than +5ºC and even more when it is freezing. Between the comps and the deep well heating system the house is very energy efficient ... we use less than 12 000 KWh for heating in spite of living in northern Sweden and having a house of 380 m^2 (= 4090 sqft), 2 adults and 6 teenagers ...
In the 3 months we call summer the hot air is moved (by the same fan) out of the building bypassing the heat exchanger ...
This is the only way my wife would accept all the comps creunching 24/7 - the electicity costs would otherwise be way too high.
<End OT>
