I've done several repairs, and all worked. You need to reapply the updates afterwards.

Winr, if the bolded numbers are your PPD, then you are not running the -smp flag.

You should be getting way more points than that.

Something like this:

Right click properties to your client and enter (space -configonly) ("space" "is" spacebar)😉
( -configonly flag enabled to make configureations to your client )


Open the program from your desktop or quick launch and do the following.
User Name: ( thats you )
Team Number: 198
use Proxy: no
Acceptable size: big
Change advanced options: YES
Core Priority: Idle
CPU usage: 100
Disable Highly....: no
Interval in Mins: 15
Memory : Whatever you have
Set -advmethods flag alwasy: no....this will be added later
Ignore any deadline: no
machine ID: 1 (change to 2 if running 2 smp clients)
The Following Options.......no
Disable Cpu affinity: no
Additional client parimeters: ( this is important) -smp -verbosity 9 -advmethods You must have -smp added as a flag or it will NOT be SMP client. ip address: just hit enter.

Then remove the -configonly flag once completed.

You should see a major differance with your points and your clients.. They should be running "SMP Gromacs" and not "Amber" clients.


 
-advmethods
Instructs the client to request work units from new late-stage beta test projects, before they are broadly released to the folding community. Please post any observations (positive or negative), questions, or issues at the Folding forum. Supported in client versions v3.x, 4.x, 5.x, 6.x.

What's the advantage of getting these WUs?
 
The -advmethods flag isn't as relevant today as it once was. In the case of the GPU and SMP clients it doesn't make any difference if you use it or not. (I leave it in there iin case some day it does)

It's purpose was to allow users to ride on the bleediing edge. Kind of a post-beta, pre-release test for new work projects.

A lot of times, the newer WUs had better PPD, but others it did not. 'word' always circulated if the -advmethods flag was a plus or a minus at given points in time and users could adjust it their clients if they wished.

but again, for the most part, the benefits of using the -advmethods flag are pretty much extinct.

the -verbosity flag determines how much of the information that can be put into the fahlog.txt file actually lands there.

When you set it as -verbosity 9, that will let you see all the feedback that the client can provide. The hope is that if you have some kind of error, you will have clues to it's origin in your fahlog.txt file and if you report the error to Stanford and include that info with your report, you will stand a better chance of them having a recommendation of something you can try changing, or even better it might give them a clue how to improve their clients/work units to avoid future issues.

Great stats! If we've crunched over 500k in the past two days, that projects to around 10 million more points by the end of the race, and totals like 12-13 million points for the month! Great news for team 198 if I ever heard any... :beer: :beer: :beer:

Ok I had some issues but they are resolved and got things back up again, ( somewhat )

I had a small prob for about a days worth on my E7200 rig, but got it fixed. I got my Brand Spankin New GTX 260/216 today and I installed it. It is now running the 5014 client ( 480 ) points and it is putting out 6100 PPD on it alone on that client and over 6500+ on other clients. So it raised my PPD production ( for now ) to 18000+ PPD.

My 3870 card ( removed for the GTX 260 card ) will be installed tomorrow in one of my other rigs that are presently crunching at the moment.....It put out over 2000+ PPD itself.

My number should come back up, now that I have my box fixed. Of all things, its was a new bios that fixed it ! Now I have a Forton 700 $105 PSU sitting doing nothing. (maybe another box start ?)

SO, do I just install one client and set machine ID to "2" as below ??

( machine ID: 1 (change to 2 if running 2 smp clients) )

One of my 5200+ is now at:

533 and 339 and doing "Double Gromacs C


I took Deino off and installed the win32 client on the 6000+, now it is:

595.64 Double Gromacs C
564.30 Double Gromacs C

On a dual core you should run one SMP with machine ID = 1.

BTW, what GPUs do you have?

Yes, Install 2 clients in different folders. Set One to Machine ID 1 and the other to 2 if you are running 2 smp's. Just make sure, if you are going to run a Gpu to set the machine ID to 2 ( if running 1 smp) and it is also in a different folder.

The Gpu client, when installed is set to a default location in "c" AppData local, ??, You can create another folder of your choosing and move the default location to your new location if needed. I do this to make everything pertaining to F@H in one area. Im kind of OCD 🙂
