Just send Petrusbroder a private message in this forum!;)

Recruiting is encouraged, right? ;)

MarkFW, there are only 2 "rules" in TAS: 1) have fun and 2) crunch whatever you want (no questions asked).

Is that right Peter?

Lightstar, Your PM has an answer! Welcome to TAS!

Yeah biodoc you are quite right - an I'll have the most fun: deciding who will be on which team, doing the stats, deciding which project to run (for myself), monitoring the WCG-New Yers Race (yeah, we got that too!!!), and some more. ;) :D

Hmm, I seem to remember I was in this last year :)......IIRC!

Count me in for The Folders :)

Only folding power is my Q6600 @3.35 GHz (which I haven't yet fully tweaked or stabilty tested, although it has passed OCCT for 21hrs at its current settings).

What's the best setup for a quad core these days? 1 or 2 SMP clients?

well, I got my avatar modified, and I edited a post. Its being flaky, but I am making progress.

Assimilator. Best PPD in Vista, is 2 GPU and two SMP. Best in XP is 2 GPU and one SMP. How many video cards, and which ones(s) do you have ?

Edit2: If its still what your sig says, just go 2 SMP clients for ~4000 ppd.

Yea my sig is upto date, so I'll go with the 2 SMP option.
Sadly my X1950 Pro no longer can run a GPU client :(, as you know.

For 2 SMP clients do we still have to run affinity changer for best points?

I believe we, the non-TAS Folders, have a distinct disadvantage despite having Gravity on our side. We need to have more sign up! There's 287 active folders for the TeAm.

Man, my bank just charged me $180 in overdraft fees. I can't buy anything now... so much for ramping up production for the race...

OK - I installed fah6.22beta2 (SMP - mpich) on one of my AMD FX-60 machines today. It was good to be able to configure the checkpoints. I ran the client for about 45 minutes just to see how it would do. I'm also running Rosetta@home for a couple of days while I try to understand FAH a little better. I expect to bring 2 FX-60 machines fully on line for FAH this Sunday.

I am away from my computers much of the time. I use TeamViewer from my ex-wife's computer to look at the desktop of one of my machines; then, I use Remote Desktop connection from that desktop to look at the other two. Because these other programs require cpu cycles and RAM, I configured FAH to run at 95%. I also reduced the amount of RAM that the program can use.

I would enjoy hearing from anyone who has more knowledge about configuring FAH -- or, maybe I'll have to play with it till I figure it out.

I would like to know more about the switches. For example, when this race is over, how do I configure FAH so that it "will not allow new tasks"?

Hmm. - ...much to learn.

To shut down FAH after finishing a work unit use the -oneunit switch.

Check out Sid's guide for quite a bit more info here.

He also uses the -forceasm -advmethods -verbosity 9 switches too.

Here's alink that lists all the switches along with an explanation for each one.
