What this woman is doing is despicable but since the title has been transferred 6 times and in light of recent revelations about MERS and the ineptitude of bank title transfers, there's a really good chance that the note for this mortgage has been lost and she will get the house scott free.

What came out about MERS was overblown. The system has worked well for more than a decade and will continue to do so.

Not to mention that this was far before MERS or even before securitization became really big. This is simply a case of a lost note.
