Anyone want to play an F1 fantasy league where you pick the race winners? I did it a couple years ago on a forum and it was pretty fun.

This is the one I used a few years back, I remember it was good:

I created a private racing league on the AT Garage if anyone wants to try it.

Forecast is calling for rain on Sunday! :hmm:

Rain with the new higher torque drivetrain should be interesting and lead to the possibility of a lot of cars of track. Combined with the extremely high potential of blown engines/failed electronics should make for an interesting race. To bad I have to work and will have to DVR it.

Anyone have an F1 fantasy league or want to join one? I did it a couple years ago on a forum and it was pretty fun.

EDIT1:
I found this one, which I used a few years back: It was really good:

I'm in. Interesting scoring format, lots of strategy to try there.

And, I'll divulge one of my drafts: Kamui won't win any races, and means that I have neither a Ferrari nor a Red Bull in my line-up, but fit the budget just right with another great budget pickup...I hope.

And I wonder who drafts either of the Lotuses at these prices. They may be great drivers, but the team doesn't look like they're quite ready now, and don't give me the impression of having the means of massive mid-season improvements either. And I would have loved to pick up Grosjean, but he isn't worth two Kobayashis.

I have never been so excited for a new season in F1 as I am for the 2014 season.

I will be rooting for Hamilton to get WDC, but also rooting for Rosberg, Hulkenburg, Raikkonen, and Magnussen. Also rooting for Williams to do much better than last year.

Never been a fan of Alonso as he seems like such a D-Bag but I hope he is up there fighting with Lewis making it especially exciting. I hope Massa beats Alonso on several occasions.

I hope Ricciardo gives Vettel a run for his money (though unlikely). And that Bianchi earns a better drive for 2015.

The biggest rules change in a generation is about to hit Formula One.

The new engine formula has attracted widespread debate since it was agreed over two-and-a-half years ago. Now we are finally about to see what F1′s new power units can do.

But the rules changes don’t stop there. There are other innovations in the technical rules and some important new changes regarding driver penalties, safety – and of course the deeply controversial double points plan.

Here’s a quick guide to all of the most significant rules changes for the new season.

So far we have 6 people in our league! Woohoo 🙂 My name is Sarcasm_QQ on there.

Someone asked me about the 40 point vs 45 point thing, basically there's two ways to play this game:
1) you have to pick your drivers once but have 45 points to do so
2) you can change drivers before any race, but you only have 40 points total.

Also I think the cost of drivers changes throughout the season, like if Vettel has a run of wins his price might go up from 17 to 22 etc. so 45 becomes a better deal in that case as well... assuming you pick the winners.

One last note: At the "Manage My Entry" page (link) there is a link to "Bonus Selection" where you can score bonus points on random stats like who will have the fastest pit stop. Make sure to set that!

Strategy 1 / 40 millions and trades is what won the last season, and is clearly stronger, if you're lucky. I chose strategy 2 though, because there's no real mid-season transfer market. Of course, this season especially, strategy 1 is even better, as many drivers that will score towards the end of the season, will likely see their price quite a bit reduced mid-season, and many drivers that may not be at the sharp end in the second half of the season, but look promising now, are to be had quite cheaply.

I do find the scoring a bit weird though, with it being very dissimilar to the actual points scored in the race, with a win being worth (before laps/quali/overtaking bonus) twice as much as a second place. This makes an ace line-up where a win is highly probably a better choice, than hoping that a bunch of midfielders will make up the tally...

Hamilton's car has stopped on track with smoke coming out the back in Practice 1! :/

Edit: Niki Lauda stated that it was a faulty sensor.

Well, FP1+2 have kind of made me reconsider my driver selection.
If Caterham can't even get the car out of the garage at the start of the season, they don't make the best pick.

On the other hand, my picks were fast in the race configuration... Still a tough call.

Well, the cars look fast but they don't sound fast. In reality they are a couple seconds slower than last season. I only saw P1 last night and Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes died within the first 5 minutes. Hope he has a strong season along with Alonso and Raikkonen. Those are my 3 favorite drivers.

I see the Red Bull lost its penis.

Holy crap Lotus! WTF?

I am having a very hard time figuring out who is going to be 2nd fastest team / 3rd fastest driver. P3 to P10 looks very close.

Lotus don't expect to be quite ready for this first race and are instead using it as more of an additional pre-season test. They don't seem to be able to run either their engine or their ERS at full power and the car looks like a real handful to drive.

Caterham was the most reliable Renault powered team in the pre-season testing and now they look like the worst!

I think Caterham was the only Renault team to complete a race distance in preseason testing.

Anyone have a good stream to watch the GP? All of the streams I've tried are just crap, stuttering all the time even on ridiculously low bitrates (500-1500kbps)

These cars (except for the Mercs) are all over the place... I'm so glad to be done with that diffuser blowing BS.

Going to be an exciting shootout between Hamilton and Rosberg. I was surprised by Button in FP3. Then never count out Alonso and I hope Raikonnen gets it together too.

Also the wind is apparently playing a pig role today, which I don't remember ever hearing drivers complaining about before.
