<< (though don't ask about the PCI slots, cause I don't know, and I doubt many of you do too). >>

G4 has one AGP 4x Slot and 3 64-bit 33Mhz PCI slots

I'm not familiar with Mac pricing. What's bringing the price so high? The 4 cinema displays?

considering there's a 22 inch 16:9 ratio LCD display drewski, I'd have to say that's at least part of it..

also, 1.5 gig's of RAM, SCSI hard drives, Geforce 3, DVD-R/CDRW, and 3 other displays make this a good way to lighten your wallet, or your bank (if you prefer to pay in cash).

Also, if you have ever checked out apple's site, check out how expensive some of their "normal systems" are. Like $2500 for something that still only comes with 128mb of ram! lol

its called Price Gouging. The mac is worth 8000, but since Mac users are (in general) all fanatics, they dont mind paying more.

LOL, erub, Kelly Blue Book Suggested Retail(High)$7,400 - $13,465

You'd probably get $5000-$7500 in trade in value depending on condition and options.

<< Look what I came up with for $5700 CDN (~ $3700 US):

$891.25 - Tyan Thunder K7
$600.00 - Dual AMD Athlon (Thunderbird) 1.33 GHz
$453.16 - 1GB (4x 256MB) PC2100 ECC DDR SDRAM (Crucial)
$1,030 - 2x (RAID0) Seagate X15 18.4 GB 15,000 rpm
$150 - Matrox G450 DualHead
$150 - 10X Slot-load DVD-ROM
$250 - Hercules GameThatre XP
$500 - Nice Dolby surround speaker system
$200 - 2x 15" LCD monitors
$300 - Quiet components (<28 HSF for the 2 Athlons)
$150 - Natural Keyboard Pro, Intellimouse Explorer
$25 - 100 Mbps Ethernet adapter
Total: $5,699.41

Add a 24" Sony monitor and a GeForce3 and it will still cost less. :) Hell.. add a 50"+ plasma display for gaming.

Now that would be a drooling machine. :)
>>

er.. $250 for a Herc GTXP? Are you talking Canadian currency? It's only $150.

wow, good job TonyB considering it doesn't have nearly as many displays as the MAC listed above does, I'd have to say your computer is overpriced (if MAC's are over priced, and your computer doesn't even have a 22" LCD display, let along 3 other displays.. well you get the picture).

well, if hes talking canadian, then how does he get

$200 - 2x 15" LCD monitors?

That would be what, $125 for 2 LCD monitors? They usually retail $400 (can be had cheaper) apiece US!

First of all, why the hell would anyone want 4 LCD displays? Its not like you are about to do 4 things at once with a mac, haha. Second, LCD's suck for gaming and 3rd, my sony 24" can kick the monkeys ass on anybodys LCD monitor, hell my whole system can kick the monkey ass on anyones computer including any mac configuration you can fake up. So when you say my system is overpriced compared to the MAC then you must not know how to add or subtract. 13k compared to 20k? that is a 7k difference there, you can buy another 7 LCD panels and then use a digital spliter to split your output to 7 different panels, think about it, do you have 7 EYEBALLS to look at each one? what are you some mutated mac monkey with 7 eyeballs and throws poo around at other people when you realize you got a sucky system and paid 20k for it? Read it and weep loser, haha

really? MAC's can multitask as good as P4's, as long as they have the RAM! Get your facts straight buddy, OSX is not your typical MAC platform (though it has bugs, ala Windows 95)

Second, LCD's suck for gaming

Who said anything about using it ONLY for gaming? and BTW, have you SEEN these new LCD displays? the good ones are pretty good for Gaming, and Movies!

and 3rd, my sony 24" can kick the monkeys ass on anybodys LCD monitor, hell my whole system can kick the monkey ass on anyones computer including any mac configuration you can fake up.

ok, first please don't distort the English language, people won't understand you, and begin to ridicule you (lol, Hardware is the perfect example for that).

Second, your ONE 24" monitor might beat a 22" 4:3 LCD display in terms of quality, but this isn't a 4:3 ration display, it's 16:9. that means that you'd have to go out and find me a 22" or larger 16:9 display before you can tell me that this one is worse.

oh, and BTW, did you notice how much space that 24" monster takes up? or how heavy it is? better make sure your desk is built really well if you're going to fit 4 of those on it.

So when you say my system is overpriced compared to the MAC then you must not know how to add or subtract. 13k compared to 20k? that is a 7k difference there,

7K MINUS what your computer is missing. lets see, 3 other monitors (I don't know what type). if these 3 monitors are LCD displays as well (say 15") that would be at LEAST $600 each. reduce that down to $5200. perhaps you need to learn to add?

you can buy another 7 LCD panels yes if they're 15" panels..

and then use a digital spliter to split your output to 7 different panels, think about it, do you have 7 EYEBALLS to look at each one?[ what are you some mutated mac monkey with 7 eyeballs and throws poo around at other people when you realize you got a sucky system and paid 20k for it? Read it and weep loser, haha

who said only one person would be watching the monitors?

It's kinda silly to buy a $20 internal winmodem for a $20000 machine.

You should give it at least a cable/dsl internet connection

You have no idea how useful multiple monitors are.
