I hearby declare the 19th of every month to be "Clean out your Heatsinks" Day!

Yeah, sure, some of you have hermatically sealed cases that are more sterile than AMD's fab plants, but for the rest of us, we need some reminding that dust doesn't conduct heat well. Clean out your CPU HSFU, your NB, and your GPU! Your temps will drop, and your case will be prettier!

I'll bump this on the 19th of every month, to remind you guys.

Hehe... that's a clever idea. But it would mean I actually have to turn my computer off once a month. That's okay, right? ;)

For some reason, I don't get dust in my Computer. I have 4x120mm fans sucking in at the front, and 2x120mm sucking air in from the top, no filters, and dustballs the size of elephants running amok in my room. But my Computer never collects dust... *shrug*

Just did mine about a week ago, no lie. I do have to say, the built in dust filter on the CM Centurion does an excellent job. I only have to dust this thing out about 3 times a year, and there's hardly anything in there when I do.

I have been very happy with this case.

Maybe the air is moving so fast through his system that dust doesn't have a chance to settle? Plausible? Y/N?

I have an air compressor in my workshop that I use to blow out pc cases. One thing to always remember...stick your finger in each fan before you blast it. If you don't you can and will ruin the fan motors by over-rotating them.

Over time it will still accumulate on the fan and heatsink fins, high CFM or not.

You can use a leaf blower, air compressor, ect for dusting, and old dryer sheets for filters :p

I'd be scared to take my computer outside, open it up, and fire a leaf blower at it. That just seems like too much power being shot into my system...would make me nervous. I'll have to go clean my HSFs, since they probably are very dusty. This house always gets dusty really fast.

I have a lian li case with an air filter, and I've only had it about a month, so I'll check it out when I get home. I know my old case without filter would get dusty pretty fast. This one better be clean...

I bet it's because I always have something going in and out of it, I don't ever just let it sit there. Need some exercise, move those electrons...

edit: the reason for all the fans are the two 2x120mm radiators, and just some exstra fans i mounted on the top. So with 6x120mm fans, and the fans in the PSU and a couple of 92mm in the back, it's pretty cool inside...

Mine just got cleaned while it was out of the machine on Sunday. :)

I just swapped CPU's a couple of weeks ago, I took the HSF out in the garage and blew it out with an air compressor. I couldn't believe how much dust had accumulated since Dec. After about 5mins of compressed air the dust finally quit coming out. And I have a nice case with filter. Damn dust:(

Of course I live in Texas the land of dust storms:) and we are way under or avg. annual rainfall things are pretty dry around here.
