Sure it's flat as a ruler, but the aluminum mids ring at 90db in this design, which is probably louder than the sensitivity of the loudspeaker at 1W input. Ringing louder than the source output. Good stuff eh? I already know this can be done...Axiom Audio does this. It's a different take on it compared to AV123--linearity without holding down the resonances properly. In this example, the ringing is at 8KHz, which certain people may or may not be sensitive to. Well, at least it isn't in the "prescence" region.

Here is my take, spend most of your money on the speakers, since they last forever and don't really go out of date, unlike any electronics.

15K is not really a huge number, I spent 10 on mine, and that is just the sound system +sources, no display! 7K was on the speakers.

Remember, put most of the cash into things that don't really go out of fashion. Go separate to mitigate upgrade cost. A good amp will last you a lifetime. Or the lifetime of the capacitors on board :)

Another thing, don't forget the material you are gonna play, that cost a lot more money than hardware.
