Heads up to any old 7th Guest fans. There's a new kickstarter for a fan-made, license-approved sequel to The 7th Guest:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/64161490/the-13th-doll-a-fan-game-of-the-7th-guest

They started the project over 10 yrs ago and have a lot of the plot, areas, textures, puzzles etc. all worked out, but it was too big for them to do in their spare time.

I guess the official 7th Guest team reached out to them after their failed crowfunding venture last year and gave them permission to use the IP if they could get this project funded.

They plan on bringing back the actor who played Henry Stauf for live action filming and are aiming for a late 2015 / early 2016 release date.

Cool! Never played the the game but I played a bit of 11th Hour back when it came out. Didn't get far though, was too young to have the patience for puzzles back in '95.

The 7th Guest was great. The 11th Hour felt a big step back though. From what I remember of T11H, the music sounded more like cheesy early porn music than the creepy "graveyard soundtrack" atmosphere of T7G, the FMV cutscenes were way overdone and unskippable, it was quite buggy (some cutscenes repeated or played out of order if you did quests before finding the relevant clues, or solved puzzles didn't register as solved halting the game, some sounds weren't normalized (ie, played at double volume of everything else)), some clues were gibberish, the puzzles made less sense relative to their locations compared to the original, and the narrator just wouldn't shut up, literally a comment on every single mouse click at some stages.

Developers Trilobyte also originally intended T11H to be released with a more adult oriented theme with "R" rated cutscenes, but that was watered down too. If they can do a retro T7G "feeling" game with better controls & graphics, etc, then that sounds neat. I hope it won't end up like T11H though.

I loved the Seventh Guest, but not so sure about this fan game.
