Can't really disagree with anything on that list.

Also, everyone whining about .pdf's should just download Foxit. I haven't had Adobe Reader installed on any of my computers in a while.

Haha I agree with pretty much all of those.

I think another one, eventually: Silverlight. It's basically yet another flash, from my understanding. Yet another door for exploits, yet another program that will probably need to be updated non stop. So far my experience with it has been ok, but I only used it to watch Canada win the gold Medal in hockey twice, so that's about it. So far no random update nag in my task bar like flash and other adobe products do, so far so good.

Really I hate any programs that run some kind of update service, or other update nag. Fine if they did it every few months, but every day? We can't all spend every single day updating all sorts of programs and rebooting. Fix the bugs, and don't introduce new ones, and there wont be a need for so many updates. Adobe is by far the worse for this. Windows update I can sorta understand, if you consider how large windows/ms programs are compared to something as simple (or at least, should be simple) as a pdf reader or flash player.

No, Silverlight is not another Flash.
Its just a secure streaming service. And it rarely needs updating. And when it does its automatic. And its very light. Just slightly more data than the video its streaming.

BUT, if you are worried about it turning into bloatware, I could totally see that.

Yeah if it stays the same it may be ok. So far I've had zero issues with it. I also like the fact that it works in other browsers. When I first saw it I figured it was another attempt to force people to use IE.

That's how programs like flash need to be. Design it, make it perform a certain function with a certain type of data, and leave it alone. Flash executes flash files, you can make it do whatever flash files are capable of. Flash itself should not require any kind of changes, if it was coded properly. Same with PDF readers. Make the format, make the program to read/use this format, stick to it.

Foxit is way better too for PDFs though, it's what I use at home.

I actually like Outlook... been using Lotus Notes far too long. Outlook is great. Gmail is not really any better.

IE should be on that list.

Adservers too. They can crash any browser if they aren't blocked and are choking.

It's a hell of a lot better than Flash, but that isn't saying a whole lot.
