My VLSI prof said teh same exact thing. "Try as hard as you want, but if you are dumb, you will never get the job done".

Your life will go on even if you get a B.

he's asian

So, he'll get disowned by his parents, his grandparents won't speak to him, and extended family will pretend he never existed. He'll end up living in a gutter begging for change to go buy Thunderbird and he will end up a wasted burden on society. Oh the horror of a B.

How'd you know?
btw, im studying too lol.

Here's a tip. It's not what you know, it's who you know. I dropped out of college, went back, graduated with a 2.42 overall GPA 13 years after graduating HS and am now an Assistant IT Manager with a growing company. You will be just fine with a B.

GPA is definitely overrated but you'll find a good many people who spent their college lives burried in books and homework to get their 3.783 so they'll defend the GPA until they die.
I would not have my current job without my GPA, its that simple. Not saying you cant be successful, but it just makes it all that much easier.

I got my current job through one of my personal contacts. If/when I leave this company, my GPA will be even more inconsequential.

Yeah, it makes it easier to a certain point (i.e., many entry level job interviews require a 2.8 or a 3.0 or what have you). You still have to sell yourself at an interview though. I know people who were turned down for summer internships that had .5 better GPA than I did because I'm 99% sure they said a) extremely corny things or b)inappropriate things at their interview.

You have to sell yourself. Thats' the bottom line. If they ask your GPA and you have a 2.8, have a reason for it (if you never had a job in college and just drank your way to your degree...make something up).

So true. This guy I work with went to MIT and and got honors and everything and almost got his PHD there. I told him my GPA (under a 3) and how I was worried. He laughed and said "GPA is useless unless you want to show off".

lol bullsh1t. mit doesn't give honors nor do they have valedictorians/rankings.

I hate it when someone gets higher score than me on a test even though I know more than that person :(

I know they don't. I was just pinting out he graduated with all A's. In any other school, it is called honors. I wasn't even aware they had valedictorians in college.
