That's strange...

on my street and the cop ended up telling me where his two new "hiding" spots are so I can avoid them in the future. AND he gave me no ticket.

Merry X-mas to me from the local PD!

I'm (eek !) in my forties. Which apparently worked to my favor. I barely even got a mild talk too. Instead I got a twenty minute rundown on why I need to have a security system, a quick debriefing on the town's police staffing and squad car equipment, and the cop's business card.

Getting old is grand.

don't have your windows rattling with sh!tty ass music, a ricer with rims, or a hat on, and you will have no problems.

You are absolutely right on that one. I absolutely fly down my street (55-65 mph) and had never had a problem before. Luckily, I was coming out of the tight curve when he clocked me, but if I were a kid he definately would have ticketed me.

You remind me of George's streak of good luck on Seinfeld. A cop pulled him over to tell him a taillight was out, and gave him one of his.

Well, my best friends dad, uncle, and 2 brothers are all sheriffs. All of them have told me wearing a hat is bad, and if you are pulled over wearing one... take it off. My dad is also friends with 2 state troopers (NY) and they have told me the same thing.

I agree with him and I'm probably younger than you.

I got stopped doing 62 in a 35. And I didn't have my license on me. :Q Fortunately the cop didn't ask for it. My parents owned a convenience store in that town where any cop in town was entitled to free coffee or fountain soda (not as bribery - it's just a way to get cops to patrol near your store more frequently. More frequent patrols = good). Cop saw who I was, apologized for the inconvenience, and sent me on my way. :D

A few weeks ago I was clipping along a deserted four-lane at night, doing 77-78. I happened to slow down to 72-73 around one of the curves since that was all I was comfortable doing in that curve. When I popped around the curve, a cop was right there on the shoulder facing me, no doubt running radar. I fought the urge to stomp the brake, thinking it'd be an admission of guilt, and just kept moving at the same speed. Luckily he didn't nail me, even though it would have been a piece of cake to--the speed limit was 55, so I was doing 18-19 over :Q

For the people that know: Is it indeed a bad thing to even tap your brakes when you know you've already been clocked?

You're not TOO far over. The other day I was going to school doing 30 in a 25 zone. Saw a cop coming and I stepped on the brakes but not too hard so I wouldn't be admitting guilt. SLowed to maybe 22-23... whew. He turned around and tailed me for another 2 blocks and I went a consistent 22 - 23, making a full 3 second stop at the stop signs. Maybe he got annoyed that I was being too obedient. I mean people here make "California stops." I saw a cop hiding at a 4-way stop intersection and everyone was doing rolling stops. He didn't do jack squat about it. Probably not really hiding, but just sitting there.

If I drove a corolla we would be twins.

Maybe not bad. But with laser radar these days, cops have said they always get good laughs out of seeing the nose of cars dive as they hit the brakes....when he is already putting down the gun and about to go after them.

It's cause you are just a well meaning adult in their eyes. If you were 18, had a shiny red car and shiny new rims with your windows halfway down they would have stopped you at 2 mph over. Happened to my friend. But that's just the South Carolina cops; they're traffic maniacs.
