Not really a big fan of it but does depends on the context and person using it.

Oddly I have an extremely low tolerance for women who use the phrase. I have to temper my response to avoid getting my eyes scratched out by an angry she beast.

Hahahahahah, ok - admit, Im guilty of calling an idiot a 'gaybo', calling something/situation/etc etc gay..

Though, I will say Im not homophobic or trying to mock homosexuals. Bad habit i guess.

no, no. you definitely are.

I think those commercials are stupid. When I call something "gay" (not often) I'm not using it as a slam against homosexuals. It's just a word that has taken on a different meaning in that context, just like "retarded." People are too fucking anxious to pretend someone is offending them. The word gay in itself is a non-derogatory word. I could understand if people were upset at the use of the word "i love you" though, because that word at its base is meant to be offensive.

except, you are. you're using a term to describe homosexuals interchangeable to mean "stupid."

If you were mentally disabled in some way would you get a warm fuzzy feeling every time someone described something bad or stupid as "retarded" ? I sort of doubt it.

No because that's kind of like making fun of the Amish on TV. The mentally handicapped individual (or "retard") would just never know.

but bad can mean 'bad', and bad can mean 'good', just depends on the context.

but lets all cry about it.

No, I'm not. The word has a dual meaning, and that doesn't mean they both apply to the same thing. I'm bi, and I flat out do not get offended by it (or "i love you" but that's irrelevant). purbeasts's example of"bad" having two meanings is the perfect example. Same word, two different meaning's. Anyone who takes offense to someone calling something gay needs to get over themselves.

it's not a matter of a word having two meanings, it's about using a word that describes a core aspect of someone's existence to mean stupid.

I don't see how it's fundamentally different than using a phrase like "jew down"

No, it doesn't annoy me or make me unhappy at all. Probably because I'm not gay, like this thread.

And yet, it is ok to use a term to describe happiness interchangeable to mean homosexuals?

BTW this thread is retarded.

and gay.

Well, homosexuality pretty much means your sexuality is backwards (guys like it in the rear, back, etc).. So if something is screwed up or backwards, I will call it gay.
