As much as I love my pals in the theatre department, this cracked me up: I was looking at admissions requirements, etc at the Peabody Conservatory, and they have a list of majors offered it, and then underneath that a long list of majors NOT offered. I guess whoever does their website is a little snippy. 😉 (see sig)

man, they're either really good at what they do, complete assholes, or both 😉

Definitely both. Peabody is one of "THE" places to study music. Being snobs comes with the grounds, I guess.

I'm betting it's a little bith of both. Ironically, this came right after reading a paragraph at how they did everything possible to avoid a "cutthroat, dog-eat-dog atmosphere, as is often promoted and encouraged at other conservatories." heh.

I went ahead and requested some information, but I doubt I'd get in there. Their audition requirements seem to be incredibly vague but come back to the general idea: "you'd better be damn good before you audition here, we don't like having our time wasted."

There are a lot of "THE places." What, you thought there was only one good music school on the planet?

hopkins is a pretty depresseing place to study... you may want to consider SF Conservatory, USC, Curtis, Northwestern, etc... all pretty much on the top tier but will actually provide a life outside of school 🙂

<rant>i absolutely HATE when schools are identified by something other than what university they are a part of. wtf is the mccombs school? or the kennedy school? or the LBJ school? gah!</rant>

balitmore sucks, i'd have to have a sense of humor to be there too

I don't get it

What's not to get? It's not that complicated...😉

i still dont get it...Opera is musical theatre and The King and I is something else? 😱

Wow, you're cultured. Hehe, just kidding. 🙂

The King and I is musical theatre, y'know, broadway shows?

Opera is not "musical theatre" as we think of it today.

Opera is Opera. The King And I is Musical Theatre. And crappy musical theatre at that, at least from a musical perspective.
