"That's My Bush"??

Recently while flicking through the useless basic cable channels we pay for every month, I happened accross a show called "That's My Bush" which is on weekly, I believe...
I couldn't help but be a little disconcerted(to say the least) that an entire show was made about the U.S. President that appears to make him out to be a complete moron.
I mean, every country has their way of poking fun at their political leader but for some reason I feel this show has really crossed the line.
A show like SNL, for example, regularly makes jokes about those in power, as do other show that do spoofs, but that is not the complete focus of the show. Here in Canada they do the same thing...but again, to make a complete series, that is viewed nationally and internationally?
Now I haven't watched every single episode, so perhaps I am wrong and in the end the show doesn't bash him too much, but still....
Does anybody watch this show, and if so, is it really as degrading as it seems?

I may be inviting flames here, but I just wanted to know what people think.
However, to say "Bush is a ______ and he deserves to be mocked" I think is a tad unfair. Why pick him? no offense to Americans but Clinton was more of a joke around the world than Bush....
But then again maybe I'm just getting into trouble here. Once again not meaning to offend.
I'm just wondering what Americans think.

It looked pretty stupid to me. The guy looked a lot like Bush but ufortunately the similarity stopped there. I can imitate Bush better than that idiot did.

the show was cancelled, it was that bad. BTW, it was made to let the liberal backers announce their views at the end of every show, IE, the gun control episode.

Not a big deal, IMO, Elita.

Why?

Well, for one, until Bush won, they were getting ready for "The Al Gore Show."

For another, it's just satire. SNL taken to another level . . . and hey, it's funny as hell. I loved Dana Carvey as George Bush (apparently, so did George, since he appeared on SNL when he left office and satirized himself - "Not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent at this time.").

I too thought it was in fairly bad taste to have an entire show dedicated to mocking a public figure. As far as I'm concerned, public figures open themselves up to scrutiny and targetted humour from time to time. But to focus an entire sitcom on one public figure, likely without their consent or approval, is bordering on obsessive.

What world? Clinton was recognised globally as a highly intelligent leader who had a great grasp of foriegn and domestic policy. "The world" thought that the Republican witch hunt was a disgrace and the Lewinsky affair a source of derision agains the Republicans.

I've never seen it and I think it was cancelled, but...

I have to say I didn't vote for him, don't like him, and don't like his party. Having said that, I support our system of government 100% and if he was elected, well, then he was elected.

But I have been seeing a bunch of news stories about him today talking about "the slowdown that began last summer when Dick Cheney and I were campaigning across America".

What a f$@#ing whiner.

Nobody blames you for the economy, baby-boy. Clinton didn't fix the economy and you didn't break it. It just does what it does. I find it pathetic that he has to go to such great pains to point out that it isn't his fault.

Some leader. As far as TV goes, this is America, if it attracts ad $, it's ok.

Really? I could have sworn a bunch of Democrats were saying that it WAS Bush's fault, or at least intimating it.

Yeah, he also had a grasp on the breasts of the Statue of Liberty in a certain foreign parade.

They did? Well imagine that.

I don't think that counts. Anybody who listens to them (or any politician) is brain dead anyway.

OK, let's clear up some misconceptions:

1. Matt Stone and Trey Parker (creators of South Park) planned on doing a sitcom spoof regardless of who actually won. Even though they voted for Bush, they thought Gore would win and and started plotting episodes around him. (One idea was that he's replaced by a robot and no one notices!)

2. What they REALLY were spoofing were all the sitcom conventions like the annoying neighbor who walks in whenever he wants, the hot secretary that makes to audience whoop and holler when she walks in, the catch phrases (e.g. "One of these days, I'm gonna punch you in the mouth!" with the audience chanting along.) They took the sitcom form, set it in the White House with the usual characters (dumb husband, smart wife, sassy help) and then threw controversial issues into the mix.

The funniest one was when their cat was old and George wanted to have it snuffed by Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Laura overheard him talking about "that smelly old pussy" and thought that he was talking about HER and why he wasn't banging her lately. She and the maid go into the jungle to find a tribe to cleanse her, well...you know.

It was the typical "Three's Company" type plot punched up with raunchy humour. (How the cat goes out was KILLER!!!:D)

I've been annoyed by the liberal mistreatment and lies about Dubya, but I had no problem with "That's My Bush". Matt & Trey would've beaten up Gore too, so it wasn't so malicious as crap like "Politically Correct".

The show got canned because it cost about $1 million per episode to produce and that was more than Comedy Central could afford. They say they're gonna do a movie. We'll see.

I agree with you to a point, but what on earth would you call the Rush Limbaugh show? Every time I watched or listen to it it was all about the Clintons.
