That's it. My kids are defective.

My children seem to think that waking up at 5:00am and instantly peeling themselves out of bed and going to play is the norm on a vacation from school. WTF? When I was a kid, I remember vacations being the time to sleep in and do as remotely little as possible.

Oh, and I used to walk up hill in the snow... both ways too.

I've always been that way. Even on weekends, when I know I don't have to be up early, I am. I've never been able to sleep past 8:00am, even if I'm drunk & didn't go to bed until 5:00am. It sucks, cause sometimes I just wanna sleep.

Go to your wife and ask for a refund.

Better yet, tell her to send them back...:p

Hel, be glad your kids want to play...especially if they want to go outside and play. Too many kids nowadays just want to sit in front of the TV, watching crap or playing video games.

I wish i could do that. I have such a hard time getting up early, and if I don't have to then I end up sleeping past 12:00pm. I'll wake up a bit before but if I'm not fast enough at reacting I just fall back asleep. In fact yesterday I totally slept right through my alarm clock. That sucked.

My daughter is 3 years old and sleeps in until around 8 AM. If she gets up well before that, I tell her to go back to sleep or she gets no tv for the day.

My son wakes up at 6:30 am every day. Great for workdays.. not so much on the weekend.

It's school vacation. Of course they're going to get up early and play. They don't want to miss a moment of that glorious non-school time. When school comes back, that's when they sleep till noon - or try to.

They get bonus points for driving you nuts.

Have you tried the 6" vertical drop test? Always a good last resort before returning defective products.

Maybe you're sending them to bed too early? I mean if they're going to bed at 9pm, waking up at 5am gives them a solid 8 hours of sleep.

yep times have changed. When I had a snow day I would be trying to get into the pants of the girl two houses down from me. I feel fortunate I only had an atari 2600.

But OP, your kids will grow out of it... eventually. My oldest used to be up at the butt crack of dawn on weekends... no she won't roll out of bed till noon if I didn't wake her up.

I used to get up early (8 AM) to watch Saturday morning cartoons, but 5 AM is ridiculous. As a kid that time was basically another dimension along with the rest of the wee hours of the morning.

My kids must be normal then, they love to be lazy and sleep in.

Heh, on CHRISTMAS, neither of my kids got out of bed until 1 in the afternoon. It was soooo peaceful that morning. :)

Honestly, you should have seen the BAGS under their eyes at 7am this morning. I asked my daughter what time she woke up this morning (they stayed in their rooms today after being warned - they wake up the baby and get the dogs barking which in turn pisses mommy off). Her reply was a blank stare looking at me like I was speaking in tongues.
