It really really irks me to know that there are amateur players (older like 40-50) telling stories of their golf games and some of the most ludacrous stories are told:

1. A buddy of mine hit consecutive hole-in-ones on Par 4's. BULLSH!t
2. Oh, just last weekend I drove a Par 4 and I shot a 76.

Of course they have to be really short Par 4's and some may be driveable, but in now way can any of these guys do this. One plays only once every two weeks in our league! its like saying I got 15 headshots in Counterstrike with no aimbot!

I am a 14 handicapper and I drive the ball about 250-265. Why can't people just tell the truth about their game? I always come across those golfers that tell their wives/significant others, that they shot like an 84 when they keep playing kickball with the golf ball and not taking stroke penalties when they hit it into the water!:Disgust;:|

I always thought this was a gentleman's game.

Unbelievable....

ok i'm done.

#1 is not possible but #2 could happen. I've played with my dad and seen him do it (granted he's retired and a scratch golfer). Ask them when they will move back from the women's tees. ;)

Increases the size of their G-peen.

Edit: Had a thought, I can engrave one of these with "This is how big it really is".

I drove the green on a par 4...

...with a 80 km/h tailwind.

I wrote "par 4 on in 1" on the ball and kept it

oh yeah 2/10 for the rant.

i drove a par 4 once, ended up with an eagle, but the guys on the green watched the ball roll 1" past the hole.

it was like a 320 yd par 4 but a severe dog leg with a slope downhill to the green. if you hit the hill just right at about the 230 yd mark it will bounce toward the green and sometimes roll on.

hey, i know i got lucky. but it did happen to me once.

i did hit an 86 the other day tho, my best score to date on a par 72 course.

i only got out about 10 times this year. just didn't have the money like last season... didn't win my hockey pool and built a fence, etc... $$ $$ $$

had a decent round going on my birthday - shot 39 on the front but blew up on the back for a 47. grrrr

PlatG: i'm always happy in the mid 80s. you? i've never broke 80. every time i come close, i end up getting a triple in the last few holes.

ya, i'm happy in the 80's. i just started playing golf about 18 months ago.

i broke into 90's last year, 80's this year. hope to break 70's next year, altho i understand that is exponentially harder.

i had a double bogie to finish the round yesterday. :( i did however have 8 pars on the round, which is a very very good round for me. i missed some relatively easy birdie puts (8 to 10 ft).

I understand you can get lucky and drive a Par 4 and I've been close, but hole in ones on back to back par 4's NO WAY

wow, you're progressing amazingly quick. i started playing when i was 20 or so, about 12 years ago. it took me a while to shoot in the 80s consistently! you should definitely keep playing and practicing - sounds like you have some natural athletic ability. it goes a long way in golf IMO.

Golf - where the balls lies poorly and the golfer well.

Lol, the last time I played a full 18 holes I shot about 115. I'm terrible, but it's a lot of fun.

i don't know about natural ability, but i work at my game all the time. every night i take about 120 to 140 swings in my room with various clubs, i keep a set of clubs in my bedroom. i practice all aspects of my game, driver swing, irons, wedges, open stance, pitches, chips etc.

it didn't come easy, frankly when i'm playing in the field right now, it's rarely my mechanics that's the problem, it's more often than not my frame of mind, i'm too tenative (e.g. i hit my last two iron shots badly so now i'm tenative) or too aggressive etc.

if i can maintain a certain frame of mind, i can hit good shots consistently.

same with my putting, if i have a confident mental approach, i look at the pin, approximate a line and distance then hit what i think it should be about 90% of the time i'll be within inches of the hole if not in the hole itself.

Tell them you'd really like to go with them next time so you can see for yourself how good they are and maybe pick up a few pointers to improve your game...

I'm sure they'll suddenly be too busy to go golfing.

About 85% of my kills are headshots, so 15 during one scrim/match isn't that crazy. If you're talking about a pub, then if I don't get at least 15 then something is wrong.
