IE 6 gave me troubles with logging into html emal sites as well as I am unable to click on any type of form button on any page and I can't access Anandtech from it....

...While Netscape 6.1 doesn't give me crap and lets me do all of that.

Even when I did uninstall IE 6 back to IE5.5 SP2, upgrades back to 6 cannot be done.

Tried the new 6.1 and has some decent features but the Bookmarks are just to goofy, can't edit them on the fly like in IE.

I have NO problems with IE 6, 5.5, or 5. Which site is giving you trouble? Perhaps you have a security setting too high or disabled?

Netscape 6.1 is just an old Mozilla 0.9.2.1 build and nothing more.

Grab Mozilla 0.9.4 and consider it "Netscape 6.1 SP1"

The only problem I have with IE6 (started in IE5.5) is I can't download crap via FTP. I end up having to use the commandline FTP to get anything.

BTW: Fileplanet sucks big donkey.

I have to use Netscape on the *nix workstations at work and I dislike it profusely. Give Opera a shot instead. Just my opinion...

I have both installed. Netscape 6.1 just smokes IE6 in just surfing. Pages load twice as fast on Netscape versus IE6. But it sucks for downloading. Why? I don't know. Also not all websites are rendered right. And it has not had any crashes in since I have been using. IE6 doesn't crash like previous versions, but it still does crash.

I have been using IE6 since Whistler beta 1 and it has been the best browser I have ever used. There was the Quicktime plug-in issue, but a fix from Apple corrected that. No other problems I am aware of personally.

Are you going through a firewall? If so, Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced, under Browsing Category, near the end "Use Passive FTP..." should be enabled. If it is enabled, you can try disabling it. I also disable folder view, but, only because it's slow(er) and I don't like the interface--but it shouldn't matter as far as connectivity goes.

For FTP, Best bet is to get a good FTP program. I prefer SmartFTP. It's freeware and I've not had one problem with it. It's BETTER than BulletProof FTP (IMHO), and did I mention it's FREE.

I never left. Unfortunately, I have to use IE 5.5 for some things, so I get to see them side by side, daily. IMHO, NS 4.78 still displays better and is more user friendly than IE. Also, when those ugly pop-up ads show up, here, in IE, they don't work in NS. :)

I won't touch IE 6. I don't want their spyware. :|

I haven't gone to NS 6.1 because their own FAQ says some features I want have not yet been implemented. The current Mozilla release is essentially the same as NS 6.1.

Real men use Mozilla and/or Opera :p

IE lacks many functions I've got used to after having had Mozilla as my default browser since version M16. IE is just way too plain and features more unnecessary than useful functions.

I've had some trouble with IE6 as well, I'm unable to log into my bank's online banking page. I can login to my credit card company's page, but I can't make payments.

All worked fine under Win2K with IE5.5, but IE6 killed it.

I think all browsers suck but my IE6 works fine. It has less problems and is faster than any IE5.xx version.

I love the IE6 i'm using that came with XP.

Can't remember a single crash, except for a weird site i visited that spontaneously reboots my machine.

I must add that Opera is one of the fastest I've seen. And most flexible too. Way too many options in the config. But I liked it. I use mostly IE and Opera.
