Whoops.

Building a system for my girlfriend on the Zalman CNPS5000. Everything seemed to be okay. As I first fired up the system the system beeped once. WOOHOO!!!

Then there was a long beep and the system shutdown. Then the horrible burnt smell came out of the case. Took off the heatsink and it seemed to have made good contact. Of course there was more of that burnt smell. The core looks ok but I think it might be a lost cause.

I;m on hold with AMD Customer Support now. Boy am I glad I went with a retail AMD CPU for once.

As a warning be careful no matter how many systems you have built.
