That's a big fat NO for BCLK OC KBL CPUs on ASRock Z170 Pro4S ATX.

I just did the upgrade to a KBL G4560, from a BLCK OCed G4400. I expect that they are similar in performance, with the BLCK OCed G4400 probably ahead in most benchmarks.

Anyways, I clocked it back to stock, with the G4400, removed the GPU, and flashed the BIOS, newest is 7.30.

(Also upgraded the RAM, from 2x4GB DDR4-2400 to 2x8GB DDR4-2400.)

Tried BLCK OC the G4400 with BIOS 7.30, seemed to still work.

Reset to stock, installed a G4560 CPU, installed SSD, installed Win10, OK, everything works good.

So, boot to BIOS, try boosting Vcore to 1.300V Fixed, then change BLCK to 105.0... NOPE. Won't boot.

So, I guess BLCK OC is not working with KBL CPUs.

Did you try 102? I could set my i5 6500 to 102.9 but 103 was a no go. It's probably just tolerance for less precise clock generators. The 7700K does not have the restriction.

Ya IIRC, the updated bios for KB cpus in the Z170 boards disables the BCLK OC feature. You may want to try a Z270 board for better luck with KB. Or, just buy a decent CPU :D

Ok, a good clarification to make. So basically, if you want the latest unlock features for the latest CPU, you need the latest chipset.

have you tried.. downgrading bios to earliest one that works? idk just a crazy idea :p
My xeon 1275-L wasnt letting me set all 4 cores to 3.9, so I reverted back to v1.3 from 1.8 it worked. Totaly diff situation tho :p

if you upgraded the bios you has disabled the non K overclocking. if it were using the old bios it could OC

That's a shame. I remember when I upgraded the BIOS using the i3 6100, I could still see the option to SKY OC, so was hopeful it might still be available.

I wonder if a custom BIOS could unlock this ability on locked Kaby Lakes.

This is not true. I tested BLCK OC of a locked G4400 CPU, after I flashed the BIOS to 7.30, and it booted at 4.45Ghz. It just won't BLCK OC a KBL CPU.

Which makes sense. I read someone's comment here that the only reason than SKL BLCK OC works, is that Intel let leak a debug microcode, that had the PCU shut off. That the mobo loads when you BLCK OC.

Of course, KBL would require a different microcode, which doesn't seem to have surfaced.

Been trying to get him to do this for years.

Kaby Lake probably adds a different branch of code to cpu support and keeps skylake the same as older bios doesnt really tell Kaby lake is BCLK Locked

On a funny side note,my GA-B250M-DS3H actually short boost turboes my g4560 up by a whopping 1,7Mhz...
