I just got done watching TLC and they had some guy doing sweet card tricks. for his final act he levitated about 2 feet above the ground without any strings!!!
i do believe his name was david or steve blaine. anyone else watch it?!

Yep. I was just coming on to ask if anyone saw this. His name is David Blaine, apparently he is getting really popular.

Anyone have any links to how to do these things?

I found one on google that was trying to sell his book of tricks..

I just can't fathom how someone can levitate like that without wires, etc..

yeah, i'm pretty sure his name is david blaine (sp). he's dating some supermodel or actress or something. he does some cool tricks but that levitating sheeet is so fake. They showed how to do it on the fox street magic secrets revealed thing. yes, even the two feet off the ground type.

So what's the secret?

grr.. reveal!

<< that probably was david blaine. that was fake. he is a great illusionist. >>

If it wasn't fake, he could teach the world to hover and solve a lot of problems (i.e. arthritis, and degenerative bone disorders). (spelling corrected)

I would agree with you if you said this two years ago.....I remember his first time on Conan O'Brien....funny as hell....Also, there was a show on Fox some time ago that showed how he does all of his tricks.....

how do you do it then? 😛

Considering how much cfm some of todays heatsink fans can put out he may be turning himself into a hovercraft. 😛

David Blaine used various camera shots in his TV special with the audience reaction being filmed close up and linked to other clips of him in mid air with some of the angles showing the Balducci levitation.

The special did not show the number of times he mucked up the illusion which is very easy to do.

The view that shows him rise a good few inches in the air and does not show the audience and would have been done with a bar attached to a pivot like a seesaw.

The end of the pivot would have had a hook which clipped onto a harness attached to his belt and a member of the crew would have pushed down on the other side of the bar lifting David up in the air. The camera angle would have hidden the props.

This film would have been mixed in with the audience clips in the studios later.

ahhh...I should be doing my history homework, but I'm making a gif of how they did the levitation trick when they showed it on fox...
edit: scrath that idea...bed calls

I've seen him on TV before. did some cool ass stuff, liek he asked some chick to write her name on a peice of paper, fold it up, and give it to him. He then took the folded up peice of paper, lit it on fire, slapped it on his arm, and the ashes spelled out her name.

That was cool.

Much of his street magic is quite impressive. I wish he would have left the levitation stuff out. The slight of hand tricks are much better as they involve/use much more skill (IMHO).

The trick is very simple, the people have to be at a certain angle and it's better to have pants then shorts. The whole time the is one foot on the ground.
