At CES Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 802.

Last Friday they cancelled it. Possibly the shortest lived CPU ever.

as the overall demand for processors uniquely designed for smart TVs has proven to be smaller than anticipated.

In other words, nobody wanted it.

Yeah, it seems like a tough nut to crack because the technology has matured and pretty much everybody already has flatscreen TV's and either they have a Smart TV or one supplemented by a game console or Roku. It would be cool if they had a processor with the horsepower to encode in real-time at least 720p video to a format it can play on the fly.
