Hey guys,
I did this two years ago with help from anandtech's community, and have loved my system! I'm now looking to do another high-end build, and would love input again!
First off, is it even the right time? I don't mind waiting up to 6 months if there is something big right around the corner, but I do know that DDR3 and the 45nm chips are out. Anything big with gfx cards soon? Love some advice on that!
Here's what i'm looking at so far, and i'll use your sticky as a guideline!
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Gaming gaming gaming for the most part(FPS'ers and MMO's). I also like to use photoshop and do video editing on premire as well.
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
6k-6.5k
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
USA!
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
Always been a big EVGa fan. They've always taken care of me... Intel/AMD whichever is faster (seems intel is for now) and Always used Nvidia GFx cards...
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
No, completely new build. i'll sell my old one.
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
I always lurk here and read.. most recently been looking at watercooling which i'm a newb too but want to get into it! Would love that factored into my build.
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Overclocking to the best of my ability.
8. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Present to 6 months from now depending on recommendation from you guys.
Here's what I picked out on Newegg to give you guys an idea of what I'm looking for.... I know it's a little over what I put for budget, but I don't consider getting the extended warrenties as part of my budget so i'll spend more on that.
*EDIT* Sorry, I failed to note that it does NOT need to include a monitor. I will be buying a 30" Dell or Mac for this computer that is separate from this budget, but I need a computer to push that high-end resolution on any game with high frame rates so very important piece of information I left out! Sorry! (resolutions on that are 2560X1600) Thanks!
*EDIT2* Also, I have the vista 64 ultimate O/S already so no OS needs to be included either
Thanks a lot, and help would be so appreciated!!!
