"That said" <---WTH ?

Lately I've seen a LOT of people use this little saying to start off sentences. It's like .. why even bother wasting time to say &quot;that said&quot;?

It could possibly just be a way to link two paragraphs or ideas together that may seem completely unrelated if you read them at different times or in a different order.

Or it could just be something stupid. It could be exactly the same as people who have an obsession with using the word 'like' 🙂

That said, I think its time to leave.

If you consider what's said in these forums to be an essay rather than a conversation, you should take things a bit less seriously.

and what's with the trend of people saying &quot;i could care less&quot; when it's actually &quot;i couldn't care less?&quot;

i couldn't care less --> there is no way i could give any less of a rat's ass about your problem
i could care less --> well i suppose i could care a little less...

It's called a conversational tone (that some people use, depending on their education and location), and is no worse than starting out sentences with

Personally, I find that colloquialism makes for more interesting reading.

edit: I end a lot of statements with &quot;no?&quot; because I am of Latin descent. &quot;You're being a little harsh on the posters here, no?&quot;

hehe.. yeah sorry about how I came off. I was just trying to understand the logistics of it, and it seems to me now, that it's a sort of &quot;transition&quot; into a new paragraph. See, before April, I had never read or heard those two words used in that manner. And now it's everywhere, magazines, web sites (especially forums 😉), so I wanted to know what it was all about, but unfortuneatly I delivered my question completely wrong 🙁 I hope you guys don't condemn me for it... I don't like being on bad ends with anyone.
