<< Did you come to the same conclusion on your own >>

Actually - I came to the conclusion that we as a team - if we are to truly be a team, will be "collectively" better off working together than apart.

If we must bridge projects to do so - then so be it.

This was not to indicate a belief that many were not already - simply to help provide a mechanism with which to gauge it. :)

Gee Nohr - I guess you're happy it even works! :p

And Dan - that's sortof a good idea... I'm even thinking of truly having a one-stop place to shop to gauge how TA "everywhere" is doing as a whole...

I've seen alot of threads from people discussing their different projects and I know that everyone's project sites have links to all the other stats sites and main site, but it would be nice to be able to optimize across the board if possible... :) It might really be a good way to boost production.

DanC, my 2 cents

We need to have the dnet ini file centralized, or at least have it so that after every flush the proxy server can give it a new INI file, that new ini file can instruct the dnet client to work on a different project. Right now I have a dozen or so CPU's all over and for me to get hands on is a pain.

Is there a feature to have the proxy update the client's ini?

or..... what about having another program that runs and checks a server for a new ini file update? Have it check ever 7 days?

Bear in mind, that I'm not talking wholesale conversion here. What I'm suggesting is that we scrutinize what we *can* do something with, and make a decision based on that.

The rest of the discussion just centers around how to track its effectiveness...

Danc,
Very interesting..I'm for anything that will help us all feel like one big family. :)
I'm already doing RC5 and OGR, and because of the generosity of the SETI group (ie SETI Calvary) who are helping RC5, I'm planning to run SETI. :)

Poof,
<Hey! I AM warm and fuzzy! I'm a cute Penguin for god's sake!>

LOL, especially considering the penguin's natural habitat! ;)

I have been running 2 1/2 projects for quite a while (RC5, OGR for Thunderstorm, and SETI on occasion for networkman) but I have lost my (small) work herd along with my job, so I really have only two computers to play with. An "advantageous trade" will work for some of us, but unfortunately not for me, since my main bargaining chip (haha) is my Duron system, and its output may be, ahem, drastically affected by the playing of UT and Descent 3, as well as some heavy 3D modelling computations that tie up the CPU overnight or longer.

I like Ken-G6's idea...and I'm kind of doing it now.

With the 3.03 SETI client my 486 DX4-100 and P133 would take forever to do a SETI WU, so I've switched both of them to RC5.

If someone will offer to run SETI on a Xeon 450 for me (maybe with my e-mail addy, I dunno), I'll run RC5 on my C433 for them. Much more efficient use of a processor if a switch like that was made. :)

Hmmm... I didn't think of it quite that way. I see now what you were saying - hmmm....

How about a "cooperative?" Then we can live that curious jet-set word... "coopetition"

Maybe a processors for trade thread? - anyone who hooks up makes whatever agreements they make, and switch their respective addresses and flush to the "coop" proxy?

Maybe it's a goofy idea?

Now that one is even more interesting... I guess in a way, it would require some good communications between the "traders" but that would foster some team spirit I expect... :)

In a similar context, I'd be willing to run OGR on my K6-3+ 600Mhz in exchange for an equivalent system running SETI for me... :)

Ladies and gentlemen .... we may have just come up with a way to raise everyone's key-rates.

If that's not teamwork - I don't know what is. :)

Let's let this one die and pick it up clean in This Thread -

Let the trading begin!

I run Seti And RC5 on both of my home machines, I have it setup that seti sits on low priority in SetiDriver, and RC5 gets set to processor level 4, then when the computer is idle they both get about 50%cpu share each... Hope that helps anyone else that want's to try this out.
