I think what happened is that McCain did shake his hand but it was off-camera when he crossed to Obama and then Brokaw asked him to get out of the way of the teleprompter. :p

Yes, right at the end McCain and Obama did shake hands and I think stood together. And Brokaw said they were blocking his script.

It wouldn't have been correct by any means but isn't it what he ment? Now for the following week we will hear McSame say that he forgot his name, forgot his response or what ever sorry excuse come from his old, outdated ass.

Obama's centrist-ism is why I've been backing him all along, despite a whole year of FUD about how he's a radical, a marxist, a whatever.

He's not McCain lite though, because McCain, if elected, would be beholden to the extreme right, complete with one of their own as VP. Obama will not be so burdened, with most of his support coming from the center. I won't speak for them, but I assume that's why the lefty fringe element supports Obama despite his Clintonian centrist-ism.

I watched the debate, and the instant I heard him do the "that one" remark, I told my wife that I thought it was quite un-presidential and disrespectful. I thought it was awful.

World leaders are supposed to conduct themselves with a level of dignity, diplomacy, and stature, especially among peers.

Is that how he would handle himself at peace or disarmament talks with other national leaders?

And no, it is not a really big deal, just another demerit in a long column when evaluating how the man might perform as a President.
