it's actually about as perfect as Sci Fi can get on film. I only forward to you the opinions of some respected Sci Fi writers.

A mentor of mine back in college (sci fi author), feels that it stands next to 2001 as the best examples of Sci Fi film.

Meh, I just didn't enjoy it. Was pretty boring to me. I don't get why everyone loves it so much.

And yes, I have seen The Thirteenth Floor and liked it.

I think it's the difference between those who prefer to emotionally invest in character vs action when watching a movie.

CoM is heavily character-driven and outside of that one brilliant shot near the end with the building siege, not a whole lot of action. I think it's the idea that science is more effectively used as a vehicle to enforce allegory, and gets out of the way. CoM does this very, very well.

But yeah, you're not going to like it if you go in wanting spaceships, aliens, or ..."Gun Kata?" whatever the fuck that BS is. 😛

Equilibrium = awesome.
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams

I was going to go with Assassins (Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas) but someone already said that...

Neither sniper was nerdy and Banderas did not die until the end (and he never turned good).

However, in the scene when Banderas dies, there is a lot of shooting through walls (and floors).

haha. god, that movie was effing terrible. I hazard to guess where they were trying to cram the story in the midst of all the ridiculousness.

😀

That's why it's awesome! It's basically like someone read the back cover for Fahrenheit 451 and thought it would be sweet to do the same thing with guns and no story.

Heh, I liked Equilibrium, it was fun. It's no Children of Men though, which is an awesome film! Some of the shots in CoM were mind blowing! 😱

The movie you're looking for is called Revolver with Jason Statham. The "sniper" is Mark Strong's character Sorter.

The thread!!! Has been solved!!!
We can all return to our daily lives now. Well, at least I can. Wait, that just means more neffing. Well sweet, I feel like my neftitude was beginning to take a dive.

Yeah, just obtained this movie, and skipped to this scene. I was wrong. He's not a sniper, situation was right. But yeah. Good ass movie. Going to watch it later.

Holy shit, finally.

The funny thing is, i think i might have seen it too, it seems vaguely familiar.

Revolver? really?

Sniper that was bad but turns good? wtf? the guy you were talking about was never a sniper that I can remember. He was a hitman, and he probably did use a sniper rifle at one point inhis career, but he was never used one in the movie...
