I've had it happen with both genders. I'm usually more shocked when it's a man than when it's a woman. I hold the door open for women and men alike when I can. Some people are just really bitches. 🙁

I always hold the door open for anyone. I look to do it whether they have their hands full or not. And I always thank someone who holds a door open for me.

I hate it when people wont hold a door for someone when the opportunity is obvious. I don't expect anyone to to just stand there and wait, but it is very rude when another person is right behind you.

One time as I was walking to the bank entrance, I overtook an elderly gentleman when he was about 10 feet out from the door. He gave me a dirty look, but his reaction when he realized I was just trying to get the door for him was priceless.

I don't remember who said this, but I remember a quote about opening a door for a woman that goes something like this:

"I didn't open the door because you are a woman, but because I am a gentleman."

Another time I was trying to enter a convenience store. The doors only opened into the inside. Someones kid was playing around in front of the doors, so I waited until he moved out of the way to enter. Of course, as soon as I pushed the door open, he ran right toward me, and smacked his head. His mother gave me the dirtiest look. I just thought, well he's your kid, why are you mad at me?

Of course, none of this is on topic, but I think that in my neck of the woods (K.C. area), women are much more abusive of the whole door curtisey(sp?) thing.

Women always assume that the other woman noticed this and was then inconsiderate. Plus, I think you're overreacting. Because of one incident, you're going berzerk.

But you're right, women are bitches. More competitive than men.

yeah...she might have expected the door to stay open for you if you were that close to her. maybe she got no sleep the night before and was out of it. I hate when stuff like this happens, but I think it's a bit harsh to judge all women based on one experience you had with a door in your face.
 
Got a good woman story that happend tonight.

Wife and I went to Lowes to get some paint. She went up to the paint counter to get the paint and I told her that I was going to get a piece of plywood while she waited (there was a person already being helped so she was next in line).

I got the plywood and went back to the paint counter and my wife had the "I am about to rip someones throat out" look about her. I asked her what she was mad about and she refused to answer. Being the smart man I am, I made up an excuse about needing to look for something else and I ran twords the power tool section to avoid any splash damage from her rage.

She met me in the power tools section and told me that while she was standing there waiting to be helped, this other woman came up, stood right in front of her and when the paint person asked who was next, the bitch proceeded to tell her what paint she wanted mixed before my wife could speak up.

i hold the door open for everyone, too. i did it when i was in kentucky and guys thought i was gay or something because i held the door open for them... i was like, "uh.. wtf? it's called courtesy, you dicklunch"
 
I'm the person that holds the door open for people at the crowded McDonald's or 7/11, thus requiring me to stand there for a few minutes before enough people leave for me to be able to leave. 🙁

I hold the door for old people and mothers with kiddos. I guess I just look and see if they need help or not.

If it's someone capable I just push the door out for them to catch it.

I absolutely agree. Oh and I cant say that I have ever had a woman hold open the door for me. That said, its usualy because I ALWAYS open the door for others. My dad would have beat me if I had done anything less.
