Heh, my dad had one of the early ones before he emigrated here in '69. Pretty cool car really, though damned small and not very fast when new.

A volvo I wouldn't mind owning. There are a lot them banging around with Ford V8s in them, apparently.

That's a Volvo I'd actually buy.

I wouldn't mind one of those two either.

But yeah, pretty badass. Then again, the guy is pretty cool. I remember reading about him several years ago when he had passed 2 million miles. He was asked how he racked up that many miles and replied that he'd just decide to go have breakfast in Colorado (not sure what state he said, but it was one halfway across the US away) and then he'd just drive there and back over a weekend.

I love Volvos.
I still look regularly on the classifieds hoping to find a T5R or 850R with a manual trans so I can buy it and keep it for the rest of my life.

Fleabag mentioned this guy a while ago in a thread where he was arguing that you didn't need to warm up a car in the winter before you drove it.

Link to the post where he mentioned him

He mentioned this guy's volvo as a proof of his crazy theory, unfortunately the guy has mentioned in interviews that he warms his car up when its cold outside. That crazy fleabag, when will he ever learn?

I reread part of the thread just for a few laughs.

I had a neighbor that would floor his Chivy truck the moment he started it.

Dudes been around for a while. He has rebuilt the engine a few times. He doesn't hide the fact that he does major work to it.

Not really, as of 2007 the engine had only been rebuilt once at near 700k. According to him he only did that because he had never heard of a car that could go that long without major work. For the last 2 million miles the engine has not been opened.

Article where he talks about maintaining his car

The engine was only apart once … for a complete rebuild at my insistence when it had 680,000 miles as I had never heard of an engine capable of such mileage while continuing to run trouble free.

such a slick car. I really do want one, but it's not my number one love.
