What is your Thanksgiving Turkey preference?

Oven-Roasted, Deep-Fried or Smoked?

*edit - added a third option - Smoked!*

I don't know which is best but I'm sure we'll have a roasted one (traveling for thanksgiving this year). I haven't ever had a fried turkey.. sometime I would like to try it. some years we smoke the turkey, on the grill.. that's my favorite way.

I think we acquired some wild afghani turkeys and are tossing them in the fryer 😀

Cool!

We will definitely be thinking about you guys over there (and your counterparts in Iraq) during the holidays!

Deep Frying is so much more FUN. ANd it tastes incredible.
True. Deep frying tastes much better, and the bird is unbelievably moist.

do you have to boil it first before you fry it? Or you just dunk it in the hot fat? How do you make sure it doesn't burn?

My parents get turkey but I prefer ham! I am thinking of buying one and bringing it over this year so they can revel in their turkey meat while I indulge in my love of tasty honey baked ham. 😀

just rinse and clean the turkey. dump it in the deep fryer. 3lbs/min.

with that said, i've made turkeys the traditional way and its good but it takes such a long time. With a deep fryer, it takes 45 minutes for a 15lb turkey and its just as good, if not better. If you want to get your turkey deep fried, just bring over a 6-pack. 😀
