Like everyone else I am trying to dig myself out of a hole before the hole gets too deep. I signed up for the Citi Platinum Divident Select Mastercard and got approved for $3900. The best part about the whole thing though is I will enjoy 0% APR on my 1700$ balance transfer for a year which will be enough time to get rid of the debt. My student loans are another thing but atleast I don't have to worry about that until I finish school ;)

Thanks again RossMan :)

BetterCreditCard.com

Edit: I just realized I am going to get $5 back on my balance transfer since it was over 1500$ :)

You're welcome and don't forget the 5% cash back at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations :)

I love their "Virtual Account Numbers", last week I paid for some magazine subscriptions using a one time use cc.

Ah yes, those are great features as well. Though I plan on using the credit card to a minimum, atleast until I get this balance paid down. I am sure though once I get the debt cut in half I am going to be eager to use it to it's full potential, and those one time use numbers will come in handy.

i only have one from bank of america.

I am not a financial expert but in my personal experience unless you make a lot of money it's a lot easier to handle one CC. If your problem is your limit isn't high enough and you've been with them for some time, it'd be better to ask for an increase or get a new card and do a balance transfer.

is it possible to pay off part of your student loan with a credit card?

cause im thinking i could avoid the interest with a 0% APR card, as long as i paid off the balance by the time the special rate ends.

I would assume so, it sounds like it could be done just like any other balance transfer

And don't forget to tip RossMAN. 100% of your savings is generally the rule of thumb.

Dude I got DECLINED by Citi for my new card.

They said I have too many accounts open. I have 4 CCs, 1 that I don't even use and I pay my balance in full everytime. My FICO score is 726 and I'm 18. My last credit card got approved for a $9400 line and my other one is $8000. Boo. Screw them. I'll have to wait and see.

That's impressive.. My FICO score is 680 though I've never had more then one CC account active at one time (20 years old).

Ehhh.. just sucks. Never a late payment. Never a partial payment....

Being cheap like me, I feel so bad for missing out on 5% cashback when I gas up. 1% is nice with my current card, but considering how much I drive and how I buy groceries sometimes for my parents, 5% would be nice. It's not TOO big a loss for me I guess.

Does anyone know what the new "hot" card is? The Chase PerfectCard was all the rage when I got it. I still use it regularly to buy gas (only card I use for gas). I get about $3.50 - $5.00 back each month. Big deal, but still nice.

Anyway, the interest rate really annoys me. I am looking for a replacement card. Preferbly a Mastercard or Visa please. What are the "hot" cards out now? As usual I want no annual fee, reputable company, rewards, etc.

There's no point in getting any other card than this one. Maybe AMEX for overseas use as AMEX used to be more worldwide friendly than Visa and Mastercard

If you have no debt problems, Citi Dividend Platinum Select Mastercard is the best. The Chase card that was good was just a Visa version of the Citi card (5% on select stuff, 1% on others). What's the point in getting a gas card that gets you cashback for gas only and just 1% on others? If these 5% cards include gas, groceries, etc then that's even better.

Cancel the cards you don't use.
They assume that if you go on a spree that you'll waste your credit. If those four cards have a credit limit of a collective $40,000, you could be bankrupt in ten minutes.

Just call and request a product change, it's usually instant and they mail your new cc's.
