Got my computer running!! Thanks for all your help!

Just for a refresher:

Epox nvidia nforce 3 Mobo 754 socket
AMD 64 3200+
WD Raptor 10k HD
Sony CDRW/DVD combo
Conrsair 1 gig value pack ddr400 memory
ATI Radeon 9800 pro 256RAM
400 watt thermaltake psu
Windows XP Home ( hope I didn't screw up there by not getting the 64 bit version )

Couple questions, I didn't have a sound cable to go from my Sony DVD to my mother board (built in sound card). Is this only neccessary for hearing DVD like movies?

It almost seems that my system thinks my Hard Drive is IDE. I have seen it listed a couple places as IDE when I thought it should be listed as SATA. I ran the WD system check on it and everything came back ok, so I dunno. It does seem to make a bit more noise then I thought it would when writing information to itself.

Thanks again!!

As far as I am awar, the sound cable on optical drives is only needed for when using the headphone jack in the actual drive.

I could easily be mistaken tho

Which you are. The sound cable is there for old style drives that need to be connected to the sound card to output audio. Newer drives just do it digitally.
