It doesn't usually

Well you talked me into it 😉 Actually I used to do SETI and contributed about 2400 WUs to the cause, but I stopped for some reason or another. But for this last push I'm willing to donate my Athlon 1800, my Duron 700 and my brand spanking new Pentium M to the project. BTW, I know most of you know this already, but the Pentium M gets phenominal times. So far it looks like my 1.4 Ghz will be sitting at 2 hours or so per WU.

Hope we can keep it up through the end and I'm glad to be back!

Thanks Guys for helping us out!

😀

I've been running Seti for over 2 years and will be helping you out with one of your projects when Seti 1 is over😉

Thanks Again

Tarca

WOW!! About says it all. I think that we need someone to compile a list or beter yet a DB of all the user that are heling from other DCPs. That would include the type of and speed of, the PC they are donating and the project they are switching from. That way we can make sure that we give back to them AT LEAST what they are giving us now. I would hate for us to pull this off and short one team or another after SETI is done. I understand that it would take some doing but I think it would be worth it. And takers? I can offer web space if its needed. Just let em know the requierments and its yours.

That sounds like a great idea SNC. Maybe keep a running tally of who switched, what they brought and from what project. Then the seti folks can volunteer back and we can move our power to equal what was brought! I like it. Maybe starting a new thread for that would work..... I can also donate web space if needed.... maybe I will try and set up some sort of submission script that people can go to, fill out their name, power they bring and project they came from and try to put it in a database of some sort. I have no clue what the heck i'm doing but can give it a shot..... 🙂

I can't add much, but I'll do what I can. One barton 2600+ and one part time 1700+ laptop.

Does seti care about HD speed at all? I've got it on my USB HD on the laptop, but it's only usb 1.1.

Also, does any one know much longer phase 1 is going to run?
HD speed doesn't matter & the S@H staff haven't been very forthcoming about the project status. They're busy working on the next phase(BOINC) & trying to work the bugs out of the new client. BOINC has been in public beta for a few months & in limited beta prior to that.

SNC,
that's a good idea, so no project gets left out.

I think your on the right path there MoFunk. Wheres a damn web site deveolper when you need him???!!!!
I will look at PHP and see what I can do. (someone please help me. I allways get lost in DBs and cant find my way out. I aleways miss diner.)

And there he is!!!! What, if anything, do you need from me? Just let me know. I'm all ears and thumbs tonight.

This is an outstanding idea. The last thing in the world I would want to happen is for a TeAm Mate to feel he was not compensated in a proper fashion for the help given to the Seti TeAm.

You guys are great!

You started it Smoke. (have you seen 50 or so WUs running around? I am loosing 50+ a day and cant seam to find them.)

Or to keep it simple we could create a new seti user for each project that is donating time to this push & everyone who wants their project to be paid back crunch under that user's id - then there will be a solid record of how much work was done and how much needs to be repaid to each project.

For example, there could be a TA_F@H_seti user, a TA_SOB_seti user etc...

Then each of those could compete for how many WU's they would be doing and have even more fun... 😉

Afterwards we could create TA_seti_F@H & TA_seti_SOB etc accounts on those projects and we (seti people) would crunch under those names until any debts are more than repaid.

KISS!!! I love it! I think we should take a vote. My long drawn out hire a DB programer or the KISS idea Wiz has?
I vote for the Wiz!

some of us have been around long enough that we have "been there, done that" and this is the best way I have seen.
So, my idea is tried & true, it has been done before & we know it works 😉

I'll be an hour or so before I'm able to do anything about this. I'll create a thread with development info at that time.

Just figured out how to transfer 180 WUs I earned in 1999-2000 to the TeAm. (had to reactivate an old e-mail addy)

Every bit helps.

OK, so I've created the thread "seti: contributions from other teams" to track development on the tracking module. I have a couple of questions that need to be answered before I can start plugging...
