Thank you everyone!!

After some troubleshooting and stupidity on my part, new rig is up and running. I wanna thank everyone who helped out, mfenn, blackmage, and Boomer D. Specs are in my sig now ... and it runs like a champ.

Turned WoW to 1920x1080, Ultra settings, it sits at 60fps according to WoW in game. Sooo happy with my choices and help received from the forums.

According to coretemp, CPU is at 3.5ghz w/idle temp of 25C. Hopefully that's about right for a Hyper 212 hsf.

Anywho, thanks again to everyone!

Well, while it was installed in the case.. I maybe, kinda sorta forget to plug in the power switch on the front of case...:$ lol I felt like the biggest goober ever. Built 4 PC's and I forgot that.. oh well

However, for whatever reason, the Coolermaster fan on my hyper 212 will NOT work on the 4-pin cpu_fan on that gigabyte mobo. It will spin for 3 seconds, then stop. Use it in any other spot, it spins fine. So i swapped a scythe case fan in its place and wired that up. No problems after that.. but it was just the fact I had to swap it around.

Glad you got it working. Guess I should've read this thread before replying to the other one. :awe:

As for the fan, the 4-pin fan is a PWM (pulse width modulated) fan. It is completely normal for it to not spin at all when the CPU is very cool (like when you first turn it on). I would probably swap the fans back and run Prime95 for a bit on the CPU. If the fan never spins, then yeah there is a problem. I'll bet that it starts spinning once the CPU warms up though.

Wow, now I feel even dumber! lol. I just remember the old days, if that fan didn't spin when you powered up, then shut her down b/c its gonna fry. I'll swap it back and see what happens.

Nowadays things are much smarter. The CPU will throttle down and eventually shut itself off long before it actually does any damage to itself. 🙂

I'm glad to hear the problem was something "stupidly simple."
Sh*t happens to us all from time to time.
(just wait till you get to be my age...my forgetter works VERY well) 😛
