I purchased your Creative/Cambrige Soundworks 4.1 PC speaker system as a young broke 20 year old 10+ years ago, and 10 years later, I'm still jamming out with those speakers! They're surely not the best, but they're damn good! Some of the best money I've ever spent!

I have a Creative 5.1 set from about the same time frame as yours, also still rockin out with them.

I always wanted one of those but never had the cash

then I said just fuck it and got some Klipsch's....

then I said just fuck it and I got some Mirage towers...

I will admit their Vista support for the Audigy 2 seriously sucks.

But then again the era of the seperate soundcard is OVER

I have the same speakers! They were a birthday present from a friend. Still using them on my main rig!

Dear Klipsch,

I bought a pair of KLF-30s 7 years ago and I still consider subwoofers to be optional.

Working with a ~10 year old set of 2.1 Altec Lansing's myself. I've been tempted to change a few times, and probably will one of these days, but the speakers have definitely served their purpose and then some.

I think I have those same speakers as well-- seperate subwoofer, with a volume control knob attached via a 3-foot cable?

I'm no audiophile, but I love the sound from these. Not bad for the $10 I spend on them 8 years ago...

Meh ... I've had plenty of issues with Creative software dating back to Win 95/98 so these issues are by no means exclusive to Vista.

Having said that, I still use an X-Fi in my gaming PC because nobody else offers real hardware acceleration with integrated sound or an add-in soundcard.

Same here... Altec Lansings, circa '97, and they still work just fine. The sub had Coke spilled all over it at one point, and it's still sounding great. The set even has two inputs that will work simultaneously.

Klipsch! I've been using my 4.1 Klipsch ProMedia's for... uh... about 8 years now. Let me tell you... they've seen some crazy, crazy stuff.

I used to leave my college dorm room to go home, and leave them blasting Rage Against the Machine all weekend. I think I once turned them as loud as possible and played some Chemical Brothers in order to piss off some people that shared our balcony window. Good times.

So yeah, I understand the excitement about the old 4.1s!
