I have, for years, felt fortunate to have been posting on these forums for the valuable information. Once again, the forums have helped me out immensely, and I need to say, “Thank you,” and report my results!
Previously, I broke my cell phone.
I bought it off craigslist, so T-mobile (evil bastards) would not honor the warranty.
However, I was advised to file the repair with HTC.
Today the new G2 phone arrived!

Not to take anything away from moosey as he can be helpful... he just reminded you of the warranty you have on the phone right? I would think this should be quite common knowledge. When unboxing devices one of the first things I see is info on the "limited warranty".

It should be, but I am afraid it is not.

I assumed my warranty was through T-mobile, and by extension T-mobile had a warranty with HTC, but that I had to follow the chain of command and go through T-mobile.

It did not occur to me that there were 2 basically overlapping warranties AND that T-mobile WOULD not tell me. I spend a LONG time with T-mobile and they could have at any moment told me that technically my device was not covered by T-mobile, but it was covered by HTC.
