It's hugely important, maybe more so today than at anytime in the past, as it shows where our country comes from.

Our country, was never one that could be decided by Demorats, or Republicans, our country was based on ideas, like...

All Men Are Created Equal
No Taxation Without Representation

Send us your down-trodden...

etc.

Since we have right to bear arms how about "if it's brown knock it down"?

Cheap slogans may work for you but US economy can not take 30 million deadbeats with turning into a caste system.

No, it's liberal fools fucking America. Liberals are simply too stupid to run a nation. Collectively, they share the same level of intelligence as a herd of cows. That's right. Cows. No bulls. Just cows. Everyone knows this.

Why is it that people can behave this way

Did the humans looking for a better way of life hire themselves?

Have we done anything via the CIA to fuck up many things in their countries.. we never start drug wars or fuel drug wars etc.. we don't help prop up corrupt governments ANYWHERE>>>RIGHT?

Anyone in this thread who thinks it is acceptable for COPS (similar in brain capacity to the ones in Detroit that murdered that little 7 year old girl) to be allowed to ask for your papers ... please kindly leave this great nation that hasn't done anything as disgusting as this since WE STOLE land and property from ASIAN AMERICANS in World War Two (Internment)

Don't be ridiculous. Any time I've been stopped for speeding, for example, I was asked for identification. It is PERFECTLY acceptable for law enforcement to ask for identification paperwork if you're stopped for another violation.

no, they ask you for a driver license, which you should have if you are driving. They don't generally ask for ID of everyone in the car, just the license of the driver.

I was stopped last night and he did not ask for ID, just my license.

I understand, but I still don't see the problem? You have to be able to enforce the laws somehow and I hardly think this is that unreasonable. People are getting up in arms for no good reason simply because someone might get "offended" that they're asked for ID.

If you are stopped in AZ, if you only have your drivers license with you, that may not cut it, and you could be hauled of to jail.

up until a few years ago, in most states you didn't need a birth certificate to get a drivers license.

IIRC, Arizona recognizes drivers licenses from all states as valid ID, with the exception of 3 or 4 states.

Also, if IIRC, the 3 or 4 states Arizona excludes don't require birth certificates or any proof of legal residency status when handing out the licenses, which is why Arizona excludes them.

Again, I understand there are concerns but you can say that about any law. My favorite is the "but...but...police can abuse it!" Yeah, and they can abuse many other laws as well -- so? Fire the ones who abuse it, like you would any other.

when I got my texas license over 20 years ago, all i had was a copy BC, and not an 'official' state issued one, and I don't remember If i had to show that, and until i moved to MO, all I had to do was renew, no new documentation. If you had your license as long as me, that id don't really mean shit. I believe most states are the same way. once you have the license, all you have to do is renew, no matter how long ago that is.

EDIT:
now that i think about it, i had to surrender my WI license and nothing more, they assumed that i was who I presented my self as. If you can get a hold of an official BC copy, even now a days, with proof of address, usually just a bill or two, you can still get a license.

If you have a name, date of birth, and location of birth, you can get an official birth certificate. so this law really don't mean shit.

Calderon's primary interest in the status quo is that behind oil revenue, the dollars that illegals send home to Mexico is their secondary source of revenue. The Mexican economy is dependant on illegals in the U.S.

Anyone else find it funny that "progressives" always live 50 years back?

It is a good first step but none of us are under any illusion that this law alone will solve the problem with illegals entering our country.
